    Default Regional Rendezvous

Many folks on here keep saying they would like the Annual WSF Jamboree closer to their area. While it is impossible to have it located for everyone, perhaps several smaller gatherings will prove successful. Here is the initial idea. This is not in place of the Jamboree which is a site wide invite. This is specifically for those located within a region. If you are outside of the region, you are still more than welcome to attend, but would like to see folks from the region make an appearance. Requests, suggestions, recommendations and the like will only be considered if you are from the region because it is an event belonging to that region. Exceptions to this are site mods, college students attending a college within the region, and military members stationed within the region. I broke the U.S. up into nine regions based upon proximity, but I'm open to ideas for region improvements. If someone wants to volunteer as a facilitator for a region, let me know and I'll put you down.

Region #1: Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia.

Sounds good. I see Crash and I are in the same region. I think FL is an excellent winter meet up area. I know I can drive into central FL in one day if I get my lazy Azz up and moving.

Does the facilitator chose what state or just take suggestions and put it together? For example, would I say hey, is anyone interested in a campout here in CA, or just wait for someone to throw up an idea? How does it work from there

The facilitator of a region would pretty much be the organizer of the regional rendezvous, like Crash organizes the Jamboree. The facilitator would collect ideas, make the reservations, keep track of events, provide information, etc.

I'm in region 3...I can't fully commit, what with work and life, but will stay tuned.

I'm in region #6, although region #7 has some states that are closer than half of 6 to me. I'll keep an eye on this. I know a handful of good campsites in the coastal redwoods right on the ocean here, as well as a few others and one in AZ..

If there are others interested i'll do it. But it's probably best it someone else does, because i'd hate for it to come together somewhere like New Mexico where I may not be able to show up with school and work.

It can work any number of ways. For example - as I told you there is a pretty active Florida group on another site I participate in - One guy posted that he booked the campground for such and such a date (next week). I think we have about 20 people going.

I am not available next weekend as I have my nephews wedding in Vero Beach. I'd be in in most Florida trips. I would imagine.

We will lump you in with the occasional Aussies and New Zealanders that drift through as the large region of greater OZ.

I would certainly step up if we had any other Alaskan members that wanted to attend. Even though we are in the same state, we can still be 1000 miles apart. Who are the other Alaskan members still here?

Did Sourdough ever find his way back on? Maybe he can show you how to get out and do things.

I checked to see how far we were a part. And I am not in Vero. I am in Jensen Beach at River Palm Cottages. River Palm Cottages & Fish Camp
    2325 NE Indian River Drive
    Jensen Beach, FL 34957

In Polk County I used to stay in Fort Meade during the summers and then up to Lakeland on a great big cattle ranch. Still ride with some of them cowboys from the Fellsmere Rodeos.
