Need source for 15 gallon steel drum

Trying differant methods of charcoal making. Need a 15 gallon drum with removable lid. What kind of businesses would be a source of finding them?

I know that many different industries use them. At my work, special oil comes in them for our generators and other equipment/machinery. I'd like to get my hands on a few myself, but I guess they have to return them as part of the purchase agreement.

Only 15 gallons? I don't think I'd try charcoal under less than a 50.

Lots of places have deposits on drums.......and some have some real nasty stuff in them.

I have used the 5 gallon bucket in a fire method. I am about to construct a rocket stove type of cooker with a 55 gallon barrel. Just thought if I can find a 15 gallon barrel I would try it in a 55 gallon drum.

even though there are deposits on drums some businesses will let a drum go for the deposit. I make charcoal in a 55 gallon drum. My method is as follows. I knock a few holes in the bottom of the barrel then I set the barrel on some bricks. Start a fire in the barrel and let it get going real good. After it gets going good start chucking chunks of wood into the barrel until full. The chunks of wood should be close to the same size. Then the lid is set on top slightly ajar. When the smoke changes colour the lid is pushed on all the way and sealed with sand or dirt. The bottom is blocked off with sand or dirt. I let it sit overnight and then dump it into a tarp in the morning for sorting.

do you do blacksmithing? any how try a tractor trailer repair shop they usually have plenty of barrels out back
and will give you some if you ask.

How tight does the lid need to be? You could chop the top off a 15.5 gallon Sankey key, but I don't know about the lid and what kind of seal you need.
