+1. Me too. I have oodles of stoves but my pocket rocket is the one I carry. Hard to beat the GI stuff. It's nice being able to eat a meal and not burn your hand off from heat transfer from a plate. I'm migrating more and more to self contained pouches similar to MREs but if I want to cook up something I turn to my mess kit.

how much space would a setup like that takeup?
i know every thing haas it,s own use you can cook or fry in a GI,mess kit
in mine i can boil steam and cook but not fry . i guess it all depends on
what you plan to eat on a trip. and the weight factor should play in too i think.

one way to extened cooking options say with fish for example is to pack fish or birds even
is to pack them in clay or mud and cover them in a bed of coals. they,ll steam that way.

mres can be heated between rocks if you don,t have a mre heater or mess kit, if yove one
of your mylar pouches wash it out it too can be used to heat water for coffee or tea. also
if your fire is made up of hard wood save some of the charcol for a improvised charcol water
    filter.

Crash, that cook set looks interesting as a reasonable price. Have you used it enough to have an opinion yet? Thanks in advance.

I've used it to boil water to reconstitute dehydrated meals and to make hot beverages. For that it works like a champ. I particularly like the two cups that nest inside. They are not metal so you have to work harder to burn your lips (yes, I know - only fill metal cups half full).

I use a jetboil. Compact, somewhat lightweight. Everything fits in the cup. I like it for the amount of boils you get for each fuel canister. Used mine a good deal and still haven't ran out of my 100g fuel can.
