Pocket Pistols

I've got another 380, albeit larger. For its intended purpose (close quarter self defense or a back-up weapon) it will work just fine I think.

I had looked at several reviews, but had not seen that one - thanks. It came down to that and the Kel-Tec. The Taurus felt more comfortable in my hand.......and they were on sale!

If you have not fired it be prepared for it to come back in your hand like thinks it is a "big boy".

Folks bad mouth the .380 as small caliber but in one of these featherweight guns it has a stout recoil impulse.

One aspect of these "micro-pistols" is that if you have a CCW you will find yourself carrying every time you walk out the door.

None of this "I have a permit but I only carry occasionally." which I hear so much from owners of Beretta 92, 1911 and Glock owners.

No thought to how to conceal, what clothes work best?, will the holster work with this belt?, what if it prints?, bla, bla, bla.

You forget all that and drop the .380 in your pocket. My P3at has more carry time on it than any firearm I own just for that reason.

At home mine lives in the pretty ceramic bowl my late wife bought on our last vacation to Arizona, along with the car keys, c-phone and wallet. Where the car keys and wallet go the .380 goes too.

I thought about the taurus tcp as well but decided on the lc9 for the price and availability of the 9mm. The link Rick posted made it a strong contwnder for me. Coming with the veridian tac-light was a bonus. Might still get the tcp and a revolver in the future.

Back from the range and am happy to report that I am very pleased with the Taurus TCP. I ended running about 320 rounds through it with zero problems. I found it comfortable to shoot. I also ran about 100 rounds through my Jennings 22 that had been sitting in the safe for a looooooong time. No problems there either.

Then there was the Single Six and the S&W 40. All in all a fun day at the range. I think I'll do it again later this week.

Congrats on the purchase and sounds like a good time. I am glad that so far it is good for you. I had one of those and I ditched it. It was good out of the box, then about 400 rounds into it I started getting double feeds, no matter which magazine I used. I had five of them, and double feeds became rampant. I kept trying a bunch of stuff and then the slide pin broke. Taurus wanted me to ship the gun all the way to them to get a part that is taken out and reinstalled per their field strip procedure. I wasn't willing to ship a firearm for $35 and wait 4-6 months (their quoted turn around time) for something as simple as that. I hodge podged the thing back together and sold it to a guy that shafted me before, but that's a whole other story.

I need to get a small frame pistol. I carry a Glock 21SF. The 45ACP makes me feel confident I can punch through a car door or windshield but the weight and bulk of it makes it impractical. Been looking at the Taurus Mel Pro in 45. Small with external manual safety
