I personally do not think it looks 750 pounds, but I am not going to argue with a certified scale weight.
Of course there was that girl that time that I would have sworn was a 120 pounder,,,,
Then morning came.
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?
Is it legal to shoot such a fine animal?
I'm a Gramp who is not computer savvy, give me a slab and the rock ages tablet..I will do fine!
Boys, if you have a hunting license and pass up a shot at a 700 pound black bear you wasted your money, BIG TIME!
We don't go out there to watch birds and do wildlife photography!
We are out there to fill up the freezer, and in this case snag the biggest full body stuffed black bear in any museum in the world.

I don't hunt anymore, but yes, IF I had spent money on a tag and needed the meat, I may have shot it.
It was quite a magnificent specimen. When I did hunt deer, I never went for the trophy, just the meat.
Neither, lol!
Yes, according to the article the black bear population in that area is on the rise.
When all else fails, read the directions, and beware the Chihuahuacabra!
Bear meat edible?

Yes it is edible!!!!
I have eaten bear several times, when I was on good terms with people that managed to kill one.
Bear was a favorite of the pioneers and used as a main source of fat before it was possible to raise hogs on the homesteads.
In fact, the bear was used in place of pork, and tastes very similar when cooked as a roast.
Bear fat can also be rendered into a fine oil that can be used for cooking or as a lubricant. The oil stinks like crazy though.

And like pork, bears can harbor trichinosis. Cook it well. Since pork is generally raised in sterile environments today black bear meat is one of the leading sources of trichnosis.
I have been a hunter all my life....but I'm gonna eat what I shoot.......so don't hunt some things any more...unless they are being a pest.
Do have to say that early on I decided that brother bear was going to be my totem (for those that have any belief in those things) so haven't hunted them actively for many years.
I understand the excitement he has...possibly world famous.....worked hard for many years, for his success........
Congrats to him.
But I guess I'm getting to be a softy.....I kinda feel sorry for the bear.....There I said it.....LOL....But not ready to change to "Ex-hunter63" quite yet.

Bear, Blah! Yer right, the fat stinks up the place and you can't get rid of it. It's like mutton, you can't even wash it off. I tried it once - that's all I need.
I don't mind bear hunting for those who will eat the stuff, but if we're going to kill bear, we shouldn't be so offended when they kill us.....just saying.
True enough, my final home is still out there, but this is most certainly my home range and I love it. I love every rock I fall off and tree I trip over. Even when I am close to dying from exhaustion, a beautiful sunset doesn't lose it's power to refresh and inspire me and that, in itself, is enough to save me sometimes.
Well..I did kill a big boar with .22 about 3 years ago..no choice, had to. Malaysian Boars are very aggressive and this one attacked me. It came cahrging no less that 5 times. I changed to a sub sonic bullet and had to aim for the eye. Third shot killed as managed to get when it stationary. Seems ,like the bullet when into the right eye, ricocheted of something i the skull and hit the brain...Lucky shot...and fyi, .22 will not kill a boar hehe and only if its in the eye. The boars here as as tough as a Rhino.
