Default Anyone have a extra gi canteen stand/stove?

Being only 16 and having to pay for school supply's I'm flat out broke. If anyone has a extra one lying around I'd greatly appreciate it. This is my first post on here but I've been on her for a little while now reading the forums just in case anyone is wondering

Not asking for free, I would cover shipping if someone had an extra one. Probably should have mentioned that.

Gotta give you one thing (no, it isn't a canteen stove) you got chutzpah.

They aren't that expensive. Might I suggest that you go out and EARN the money for one.

Every where where I have seen they have been $20 plus shipping. If anyone can find one under $15 online and shared the link I'd be glad.

I guess it just boils down to how bad you want one.....You are giving up over $5 bucks?

We'll let me ask this, are they really that much better than just putting the cup in the fire?

I understand asking for help if you can't find something.

Asking for the handout will probably turn off most people.

It took less than a minute to find this. http://stores.ebay.com/Safe-Zone-LLC...sub=3709053013

Makes me wonder how much you really want to "buy" one or how hard you looked.

They can be handy - of that there is no doubt. I have never owned one and have heated the contents of my canteen cup often.

I understand that it actually was quite rude of me to ask for a handout and I probobly started off on the wrong foot. I looked but I never looked on ebay. The thought actually never hit me. Thanks

I have never had, or used, the item for which you are asking. I usually scrape out a handful of coals and sit the cup on them instead of in the fire. Cooks good and keeps flame off the cup so you can pull it out without burning the heck out of yourself. Also lessens the ash going into the cup and the soot that gets on the outside making clean up easier. A helpful hint: put a thin coat of dish soap on the bottom and lower half of the outside of the canteen cup before cooking with it. This will make the soot not stick and clean up a lot easier.

Other than that, welcome to the threads. Don't take things too personal, but people coming in asking for free or heavily discounted items are frowned upon. Offer fair price or trade will go a long ways. Also, stick around and share things you have learned and ask some questions. Submitting a few pics of things you're doing is also encouraged. This is a close knit community and while we welcome new members, we welcome new contributors and genuine learners even more. Pull up a seat and stay awhile. Lots of good stuff and people here.

I agree and I shouldn't have done it. It's just disrespectful. I plan on staying a while. I have another question about alice packs if anyone is familiar with them.

I have put a canteen cup in a fire a whole lot more times than a stove.....stoves are made to use fuel tabs....you can use wood, but really little kindling wood.
    Quick search turns up this......

Since you are only asking for the stove part, I am guessing that you already have the cup. Here is a little secret....you don't need the stove. You can make your own out of a food can, that's free. You can also make your own out of two stakes. I use two old bicycle spokes that I cut off an old bike wheel. They are Stainless Steel and very thick, and still light weight. Use rocks to raise the spokes up the proper height, and put the cup on top. Use a fuel tab underneath, or put a small fire there.
Also, look up "hobo stove" and other similar terms on google to get a miriad of DIY stoves you can make for your cup.

My daughter, who is 13, keeps asking me for contacts. I keep telling her that she is too young, but she is persistent. So, I told her that if she can do 25 pushups in one minute, then I would get her contacts. A couple months later she comes back with the same request. I ask her about the pushups and she says it isn't fair because she can't do them. So, I tell her that if she REALLY wants contacts, then she would do ANYTHING she could for them. Since she hasn't done anything to improve her pushups, that tells me that she really DOESN'T want them. Hopefully she will eventually understand the lesson I am trying to teach her. Right now, all she knows is that her dad hates her.
I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

    Thanks I'll try that
