so the definition of a criminal is someone who breaks the law and you want me to believe that somehow more laws make less criminals?
I guess I never really used one much....do have an old Crescent Arms SS, that I used for pheasants, rabbits.....
Now there are a few of the combo .410/ .45 lc around......but only bought the H&R .410/.45 barrel and the derringer......the other is raffle prizes.
Just really don't have too much use for one, the pheasants are all planted...no fun, gotta kick then in the butte to get them to fly...and they run to the truck when you pull in the parking lot...feeding time.
Use the 20ga or 12 ga more.....

The last time I shot a 410 was when I was in the Scouts. 410 was the skeet range shot gun of choice for our Scout camps.
I build a shortie last year that I enjoy...
Started out with a Excellsor 410 folding shotgun...

My son has a Mossberg bolt action .410 that he loves! Good for small game thats about it. Dont have any pics but we reblued the barrel and redid the stock looks pretty good now.
My first hunting gun was a single-shot 410. Did some squirrelin and some rabbit. Nice kid's shotgun.
I saw a video of the Bond Arms Snake Slayer last night and went hmmm.....

I don't have a .410 but I do have a 12 gauge to .410 insert for my SxS. Figured it was cheaper than buying another weapon and the .410 ammo isn't as heavy to carry as 12 gauge ammo. Lot's of options in .410....if you can find it. It's sort of like .22 around here...scarce.
I have a Savage over under .22 / 410 + a couple other Rossi model 410's I like for small game. i also bought inserts for my 16 ga and 12 ga to accept 410 increase's my options in a ammo shortage.

I do not particularly like the .410 but I will refrain from speaking badly about it due to fear of the lynch mob.
One nice thing about it is that it makes a good pest control gun for things a .22 will not take out with one shot.
Another nice thing is that it is a shotgun that uses a pistol charge for reloading. A pound of powder and a bag of shot goes a long way in a .410.
Don't cut that choke out though, you need that full choke pattern, especially when you only have 5/8 ounce of shot to work with! With #6 shot you only have 155 shot in the whole load.

Over the years I ended up with a mossberg bolt action. This gun was in my granddads gunroom for years, somebody had lost the bolt. I finally scrounged up a couple bolts and made one from the pair. I have a single shot break action that had belonged to my dad, it's a fie. There's a smle single shot that was converted from 303 to 410, got it as boot. I was coming back from the scrap yard after selling some copper and came across a super commanche at a sports shop. I ended up getting it and monkeyed with it a bit. That's about it.

When I was growing up, there wasn't a lot of options...you shot what the older members of the family let you use.
A .410 was for rich guys to give their kids.......Like a friend of mine.
Asked MF about one......he said "For what...use the 12 ga....here is two shells....make them count."

12 gauge was the most common in my house as a kid. I still have my old victor single shot that I scrounged out of my granddads parts bin. I had to make a firing pin, forearm, buttstock and a bead. I'm lucky to still have it as my brother had it for a while and he is very hard on things. After getting it back I had to scrounge up another forearm iron and repair the stock. I keep it around for old times sake.

Never had a 410 as a child; similar situation as hunter - go get the 12 ga, you're ready son. I now have an 870 with a standard barrel in 410 and DW has a 410 Mossberg with a shortie. Hers for defense and mine for the limited hunting I can due as I can't handle the 12 ga shoulder recoil. for reasons I discussed before. For that I have an 870 with a pistol grip that I practice with (before someone says it) for defense.

is it just me or does anyone else think the .410 and 20 gauge are about par for recoil? Not much difference to me.
Never really paid any attention....little guns.
All I know is a 12 ga. 3-1/2 Hevi shot....shot straight up or extra full turkey choke...will hurt you.......not a "stop sign load"
As will a 1 oz slug out of a H&R Single...or 10 ga.
