    I had to weigh in on this. 454 Casull owner. I carry it when traveling through grizzly country. I use a 300 grain Hornady round, readily available on the shelf. A pistol is far more easier to access than a shotgun. There is no safety to fumble with and it is a double action unit. If you can't handle the recoil, maybe you should step down to a .44. I kind of like shooting the thing- it makes you feel good to be alive.
