I knew who he was from another forum and wondered why he had "disappeared". I didn't mention about him cause I didn't wnat to start a scene. The forum he is returning to is "Troll Heaven" IMO. He must've really been a bad, bad little troll to get banned. Good thing it was for only 2 weeks and not indefinitely. Good riddance I say!

I had a good laugh to myself a day or two ago watching a Dave Canterbury video about using char cloth. He said that even with char cloth you still need additional tinder like a birds nest. But if char cloth itself was tinder, why would you need MORE tinder? That was the entire point I was making but apparently it was not getting through. It's kind of like how a knife can baton wood. A pocket knife is a knife, therefore, a pocket knife can baton wood. The logic doesn't work there, yet if you go by definitions and semantics it seemingly does.

You also failed to grasp the relevance of how char cloth is made and used to create fire AFTER you have already made your first fire. Clearly, you can't char material in the field without fire. So it would only be used, and should only be used, on your SECOND or subsequent fires. The whole point I was making, which you have clearly missed, is that there is no reason to start your first fire with char cloth if you had the ability to prepare it at home ahead of time and pack it in your kit. Just bring a lighter or fero rod if you are planning on bringing fire starters. That way you don't need to bring tinder (char cloth) and then go get ANOTHER type of tinder to actually get a flame going. It will save you time and energy.

    Our cats ignore laser pointers...

    :P

Ninjas are supposed to be quiet and inconspicuous - maybe he was out during that part of the lessons.
True enough, my final home is still out there, but this is most certainly my home range and I love it. I love every rock I fall off and tree I trip over. Even when I am close to dying from exhaustion, a beautiful sunset doesn't lose it's power to refresh and inspire me and that, in itself, is enough to save me sometimes.

Ninja - The very word conjures up fear. No, but seriously. He's gonna need a stain remover to get that spot out. Looks like ketchup.
