Cool Be careful what you ask...

Tokwan, the hong is a WMD that has caused even the strongest grown men to fall to their knees weeping like infants! Women and children have been known to go mad after viewing it! One lady reportedly went blind! It got so bad that even Google has got on us about publicly posting the pic as it seems that their employees had to seek much psychiatric counseling afterwards, causing a financial hardship to the company. However, since you were stupid...er...uh...brave enough to ask I'm sending you a pic via PM!...

I don't want to re-live that entire thread here, so I'll just comment briefly on a couple things related to this.I had already explained and qualified the semantics involved in describing char cloth as tinder. I had a good laugh to myself a day or two ago watching a Dave Canterbury video about using char cloth. He said that even with char cloth you still need additional tinder like a birds nest. But if char cloth itself was tinder, why would you need MORE tinder? That was the entire point I was making but apparently it was not getting through. It's kind of like how a knife can baton wood. A pocket knife is a knife, therefore, a pocket knife can baton wood. The logic doesn't work there, yet if you go by definitions and semantics it seemingly does.

You also failed to grasp the relevance of how char cloth is made and used to create fire AFTER you have already made your first fire. Clearly, you can't char material in the field without fire. So it would only be used, and should only be used, on your SECOND or subsequent fires. The whole point I was making, which you have clearly missed, is that there is no reason to start your first fire with char cloth if you had the ability to prepare it at home ahead of time and pack it in your kit. Just bring a lighter or fero rod if you are planning on bringing fire starters. That way you don't need to bring tinder (char cloth) and then go get ANOTHER type of tinder to actually get a flame going. It will save you time and energy.

Now, now, folks - just like TV you have the option of turning it off if you don't want to see it - sorta like a train wreck, you don't have to look, do you? (heh heh heh).

Buhahahahahaha! Now that right there is funny I don't care who you are. God bless them little grasping and missing pygmies down there in New Guinea. Still trying to prove your unpopular point eh?

Hunter was right. The clock is ticking but it is kinda fun. Maybe if I play out more line.

Yes. Nothing wrong with that. And in the face of no reasonable rebuttal, I'll assume my point stands. I don't have to be "right", I just have to show that what I was saying has validity. That's all.

Well, as much as I'd like to beat this dead horse. My suspension on the other forum will be lifted later today so I'll probably be spending my time over there for the most part. I may stop back in here occasionally since I'm now a member.

I guess there's something about message board psychology that makes people oppose each other and argue mundane details. One thing I like over there is that people will have opposing viewpoints, as they do here. However, there's enough people participating that someone will usually join in and back up your point of view. The diehard ones will of course debate you till the cows come home, even if it turns into a multi-fronted argument with me and those who support my opinions. But it makes it much harder for them to claim you are the only one in the world with that opinion, when other random internet people are saying the same thing as you.

I've stated an opinion before, and naturally someone disagrees. Then somebody else agrees with me but has an even more hard-line belief, and the sparks really start to fly. I have to step back and they go at it, people start calling names, get banned--it gets crazy sometimes.

    O.o

Yep, more people. Get enough people together and someone will agree with you - the old monkeys on a typewriter thing. That oughta work.

Okay. I don't think there's any danger of anyone agreeing with you here, so maybe it'll be funner over there. Have fun.

perhaps that's the issue. Usually he can step back while others fight, here attention gets directed appropriately.....

Just another form of trolling. We've had them on here before. Anything to start a pizzin' contest then step back and watch. Only thing is, it doesn't work here. They usually get called out. Of course, they are fun to aggravate for a bit.

Hahaha, no. There was a guy on the ninja board who ALWAYS disagreed with me. He said he was a millionaire and his brother was a billionaire (not sure how true that was). The site admin eventually stepped down, apparently to go conduct his own assassination missions (again, don't ask..). And the douchey guy who always argued with me was bequeathed control of the site somehow. I left after that. There wasn't much going on anyway. Besides, I took all that I learned with me and left what I shared for whomever follows in my footsteps.

I wouldn't say I stirred up or instigated trouble, for it abounds with or without me it seems. You think trolling is bad here...

Trolling is NOT bad here. We have a nice group with nice newbies coming in. The ones who are not nice, don't stay long, one way or another.

No, not really. We have good mods that take care of things pretty good around here. That being said, how much longer do you think you'll stick around?

Like I said, I'm heading off to the other forum later today. I joined here to fill the time during my two week ban there. It looks like there are only a couple threads in each section that get updated on a regular basis here. I need a little more content and stimulation than that. So I'll probably cruise through here infrequently and catch up on old threads and post if I see something interesting.
