I think there are a bunch of great comments here. I see that I expressed my self poorly in the OP.

I don't think you did, it's just that a lot of people share your views, and feel helpless sometimes seeing it happen.

The sedated are great listeners.

Kids today rarely have to ponder things. They can google things. When most of us were kids, if we didn't know, we would have to live with not knowing until we got to where encyclopedias were.

In essence, we were forced to think about things. Only time will tell if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

Personally, with the continued invention of new things, I don't believe kids are dumber these days.

Also an excellent point on many levels. Today I do all my math on a calculator and all my research on the 'puter. I don't have to think...just type. Just about everything I own is smarter than me. Not sure it takes a lot of computer power to achieve that but true never-the-less.

2 Back in the day

Completely meaningless phrase which has gained inexplicable global popularity. It's an incomplete thought: Back in what day? It's a redundant way of saying "Once, I..." or "I used to..." and adds words without adding any extra meaning. Similar to the equally pointless "at the end of the day..." popularised by English soccer stars.


Back in the day, I used to be younger.
