LOL....That's why it's good to have the end of the barrel out the window......revolvers are a little tricky......

Also don't do it if your buddy is sleeping......they get sorta cranked.

I did the very same thing with a .45 under canopy. Simply forgot to put my hearing protection on and the blasted things was sitting on my head. My hearing is horrible but that was just painful. Another of life's lessons in being stupid.

I also have to chuckle at the TV shows for the same reason. I think if I were going to be firing weapons inside on a regular basis then sign language would be good to learn.

Same thing happened to a friend of mine. He had one heck of a time explaining the hole in the roof of the cruiser. He wound up working the dispatch center for the next year if I remember correctly.

I have shot through vehicles and around them for police training. Would I do it with my personal car? Nope. But if I owned a bit of land and found a old car for $500....... Why not?!

I have never shot from the inside of a vehicle, but I know a feller who shot out his window and tore up the B-pillar a few ducks seasons ago. Six months later, he was divorced. Guess who got the car?

I have shot from the inside of a vehicle with the firearm out the window. The guns were a S&W .22LR revolver with a 6" barrel, a good old Raven .25, and a Walther .380.

When my boss and I started shooting together we went to my shooting club. There are no amenities. It is basically just a field with a banked back drop in the Everglades. Since they don't rent or sell anything he had to stop and buy ears. They had those inside the ear magnified ear pieces of crap. We both decided to try them. He made the comment that they used to shoot outside and also inside at the shop all the time without any protection.

He shot with those in the ears and couldn't hear a word I said all the way back to the shop. He had to get hearing aids after that. I had put my Walker Game Ears on when I didn't like the way the in ear things worked.

The old gavel pit where we used to shoot...(y'all remember them?)....had an old Rambler for the 1960's,,, that was shot up pretty well.
Bunch of guys were shooting that the heater control knobs with .22's (remember .22's?)...Knobs were chrome balls about 1/2".... but were kinda hidden behind the steering column.
I was kinda watching with a buddy's bolts rifle..... 30-06...thru the scope and kind doing the spotting.

As those guys were fooling around...my buddy handed me a couple of armor piercing rounds for the 30-06......so loaded them up......
When the other guys were reloading...My buddy says ..."Take them!....
Touched off a round shot thru the steering column housing and blew up the knob....then shifted over a killed the other knob.....thru the dash panel.....and out the other side......

Ah, yes them's was the good ol days.....arh, arh, arh...I was impressed.

Boy do I remember. Similar deal only the car was a '63 Plymouth Furry. The shot hit the push button transmission, the car took off and we're still looking for it.

Excellent advice, sjj. If someone really wants to get into a booming field may I suggest Audiology? Everyone today is walking around with earbuds jammed in their ears and a good many have the volume cranked up. Not to mention the vast improvement in car stereo systems with 12 speakers in surround sound. There will be a price to pay for that in both the loss of hearing and in the cost of new hearing assist devices. And trust me, they aren't cheap and very few insurance companies fund the cost. When you wake up one morning and realize that the word "what" is a prominent part of your vocabulary it will be too late.

    What?..........
35 years of noisy factories kinda does a number....as well.
Ear plugs and sound barriers these days.

Was watching an episode of "Pickers"....they had found a "Camel gun".....long enough that you wouldn't shoot your own camel in the head while riding.
I guess we need a "window gun" so as to not blow off the mirrors and such.

Now, if we can just get past those Department of Conservation rules about shooting from a car.......

I once read a biography of TE Lawrence, (Lawrence of Arabia) and de was alleged to have sustained his only major war injury when he shot his own camel in the back of the head with a .455 Webley revolver. He was engaged in a wild charge against a Turk position and got a bit carried away. Falling from a camel at full gallop is not an experience I would wish to pursue.
