Got a new one!

It is a Rossi SS (not the wizard) adult combo in .308 and 12ga. The .308 barrel is scoped and he is asking $325.

Another thought I had today was for .22mag. They don't make one, but a .22lr barrel and a reamer may make it doable?

$325 is way too much for that combo. You can by a new NEF with both barrels for that price.

It seems that Rossi has dropped several of their calibers on their website. It was only a year ago that they were offering almost every major center-fire caliber with a shotgun barrel on the side for less than $200.

They were also offering a .22wmr as well as the .22lr.

Now it seems they are down to only .223 and .243, .44mag, .22lr and the three shotgun bores and the prices have jumped wildly.

Well, I picked up the .308 / 12ga combo yesterday. I got him down to $220, and I took it. Pretty good shape over all and came with all the factory stuff as well as a Burris 4x32 scope atop see through rings. I don't need the 12ga barrel, so I'll probably trade it for another barrel.

Check some thing out too.

See if the 410 and .22 barrels line up the firing pin properly if you put them on the 12/308 frame.

I have found that Rossi makes two different frame sizes with different FP positions!

Looks great Nate! Keep us updated. I have been looking for a good 22lr for my 11 year old. His arms keep growing and he needs a larger length of pull. I think I will just buy one my size

Yeah, I have dies for pretty much everything. If I don't, I can get them without too much of an issue.

I will send you an PM regarding the 12ga barrel. I'll give you first go at it for sure.

You were right regarding the FP. The youth barrels will fit on the adult frame and the adult barrels will fit on the youth frame. The thing is that the firing pin doesn't line up with the primer when you cross barrels/and frames. This is good to know as I don't want to rely on it when I need it! The nice thing is, I have both receivers so I can still acquire any barrel and be able to use it!

Now, about that Rossi Customer Service guy who said the youth and adult receivers were the same..........

Well, FWIW, that makes the Rossi no better or worse than the H&R system, which also has separate frames for the rimfires, as well as shotgun frames they will not fit center fire barrels too.

However, Rossi also makes .22lr sets that use 22lr on the larger frame and I will seek that situation like the holy grail for the next stretch of time.

Thing is I am getting "Hunter63 H&R syndrome". Three barrel versatility is turning into 10 barrel obsession!

The real problem is that Rossi is suddenly pricing their three barrel sets up there at the same prices as Ruger and S&W poly-frame autopistols, and above the price of the Savage Axis and Marlin/Mossberg starter rifles.

Man I hate these decisions!

Now, if one of the makers would offer a breech stub, with interchangeable barrel tubes that indexed into the fitting and screwed in place securely, like the system on the old Dan Wesson revolvers or the modern choke tube systems, there would be none of this problem with fitting and fooling around with frames!

I still think the Rossi is the way to go if you're just starting the "barrel collecting". Rossi has two frames whereas H&R has at least four. Also, Rossi barrels come with sight whereas H&Rbrequires an optic which is more time/money. The biggest plus with H&R is they have alot more chamberings to offer. Rossi is newer than H&R at the multi barrel game, so I expect more to come over time.

I'll keep my eye out for an adult .22 for you, KyRat.
