Teflon Pipe Tape

I've been meaning to post this for a while now....

Even though I ALWAYS keep them in a Ziplock bag, it still drives me nuts when a travel size bottle (like the TSA approved sizes) filled with Camp Suds or Olive Oil or Hand Cleaner or anything else leaks during transport, either from poor manufacturing tolerances or temperature changes or plain old jostling in a pack.

Here's how I solved that problem years ago with never a leak since:

Teflon tape is also quite strong. Might make a pretty good emergency binding product.

And since it's teflon if you happen to ingest any it won't stick! Okay, I'll go find something to do.

To go along with Rick's line of thinking............wrap it around a stick before cooking your bread on a stick so that it won't....well.....you get the idea.

And it will make clean up a snap. Oh, the bread thingy not the ingestion part.

I had a leak for a long time on gas tank threads on an ATV, couldn't ever get it to stop leaking some. Used thicker gasket,sandwich bags and finally wrapped threads with Teflon tape and never another leak.

That is a great idea. Ironically I just bought some of the yellow tape to have on hand for any natural gas repairs

That sounds interesting but just how many rolls does it take to wrap one of those bottles tight enough so it doesn't leak?

that's a good idea. Some piping jobs I've done Teflon tape and pipe dope was used. Been told it'd over kill but there is never time to do it right but there is always time to do it over.

Ain't that the truth! I was raised by WWII guys and when I went to work I started work for WWII guys. You did it right the first time. If you didn't then you got to redo it while someone stood over your shoulder shaming you for such sloppy work and all the while questioning your parental lineage. I once ran an aerial service into a house, ran it down the side of the house, formed the drip loop and ran the line into the protector. I was written up because the drip loop was 1.5 inches too long. I had to go back out and replace the entire service, not just remove the 1.5 inches. Oh, no. Replace the whole service so I'd remember just how long the drip loop is supposed to be. Picky was a way of life. The drip loop is the width of 4 fingers by the way....not six.

Used a lot of tape as well....too bad you can only use 8 10 inches out of 20 ft. roll.....always seems to get away from me and I end up tossing a foot or so every time I use it....LOL

Buhahahaha. don't feel bad. I always have some that decides to roll over on itself and then I'm like a cat with scotch tape trying to get it untangled. Finally pinch off the bad stuff and try again.

Some of my best friends were WW II vets. I learned a lot from those old boys, two tinknockers and a plumber.

That's a great idea. I use tape at my job every day. And with the empty rolls I drill a small hole in the spool and wrap about 20 feet of fishing line and few hooks and sinkers, put on the spool cover and there you go and easily carried and easily usable survival fishing kit.
