Snow Camping with Scouts
We really need a trip report section......
So, I took the scouts this weekend on a snow campout. We parked at the gate at the bottom of the canyon and pulled sleds up to a campground. Looking out my window today, it looks like we hit the weather perfectly. If we would have gone a week earlier, we wouldn't have had snow, and it looks as though most of the snow is melted now as well. But, we had just enough for an overnight. The canyon we go to is about a mile from my house. It is heavily used in the summer time, and then they close the front gate to cars in the winter. Only snowmachines and walkers can get back there. Because of the heavy use, there isn't much wood, so we bring our own. We didn't do too much as far as planned activities. I helped a few boys with what they had left to advance in rank, but other than that, they all just played around. Of course, that mostly translated into throwing snow balls at each other.
