Hopefully new Christmas tradition

I took the boys shooting yesterday. I borrowed my brothers cricket, and my BIL's 9mm High Point. Not the most fancy guns in the world, but the boys didn't care.
I definitely need to buy a cricket. But I also need a little larger stocked 22 for my now 11 year old. He grows too fast.

We usually shoot at Thanksgiving. Mostly Clay pigeons because it seems like all the young ones like that the most. All the kids and grand-kids look forward to it. Glad the lads enjoyed it!

I really envy you, for the first time in 8 Christmases, we won't be with the grandkids for shooting and other fun; I'm already missing the kids and grandkids. Staying home with the alpacas, llamas, dogs and cats ......... and my lovely bride and her sister. (The latter of which has moved in with us indefinitely and I'm sooooo happy!)

One thing I learned is that I really need to take them more. And, I need to stress safety more.

How do you like those Crickets? I just bought my kids each one for Christmas. They were cheap, and look it.

I really like them so far. They are really easy to make "safe". You also have to pull the pin back each time, not just cycle the bolt. I like that feature in a 22 for little kids. The stocks are small enough for really young kids. It will take you FOREVER to go through ammo, because it takes a while to load. But, I like that feature. It teaches kids exactly what it means to have a round in the chamber. My brother's seem to be pretty accurate. I like the polymer stock, and everything else is metal.

It isn't the best in town, but I think it is the best for really young kids (6-9). Depending on the kid, 10 and older can handle a bigger stock. It is also great for teaching young kids gun safety and proper handling.
