Default An Idea... Pass this up the line to Chris or one of the moderators

I have an idea but don't know the first thing about setting this in motion... and right now, very little time to set it up... but,

How about setting up a messenger conference/chat with either Bear Grills or Les Stroud or other notable experts in survival like I have seen other organizations do with musicians, other notable experts etc.... specify a time and date for it and what messenger to use to discuss with said honored guest in real time... survival topics etc...

I don't even know if this idea has been mentioned here before either. But this is just an idea that I think would be really good for us. As with all posts here.. response is open to comment.

Well, Ridge, it has been tried here with several people. Ranger Rick doesn't like us and is pre-occupied skiing in the Alps; Cody Lundin responded to a question via a personal e-mail to me;(the best guy out of the lot as far as I'm concerned.) but like Mors Kochinski whom I also tried to get they don't like computers and hate "being chained to a desk"!(their words, not mine). I've had an e-mail out to L. Stroud for over a year now; still waiting for an answer. And forget Bear Grylls; we'd have him on a spit. Hey! I wonder if the "Bare Wilderness Id..er..uh...team"...nah, forget that! Like your sgnature, BTW.

Hmmmm, that's too bad that they think of their audience so much... Brings to mind a few pro-nouns I know of.. Well, it was worth a try, I didn't know that it had been tried before. Ok, I'll go back to my hobbit hole and sort things out there..

Couple questions for Bear; 1. why don't you get a rash in the jungles like everyone else? Oh yeh, you stay in hotels.

    2. How do you see a rabbit in the bush, over 20 yards away? Oh yeh, you don't, you have a tame one brought in and killed and skinned by someone else.

    3. Why do you say on one frame, not to eat snakes raw, and on the second frame eat a raw snake? Oh yeh, because you are an idiot.

    4. Why is it, that for some reason, when you do kill a snake, it stops moving? Oh yeh, because it's been dead for awhile.

    5. Why do you suggest drinking urine, when it is known to overwork the kidneys and help in dehydration? Oh yeh, again, you are an idiot.

I can go on, but it's just boring.

Bear, you are a sell out and a fraud.

there are a few such people i would love to talk with, and stroud does stand out, but as much as anything it's because i think we'd get along. he seems like a cool kat.

By not wanting to be in contact says alot. Then your not put on the spot with a question you know little about.

I can't imagine how many people contact Les Stroud (or try to) on a daily basis. It must average in the hundreds. And most are probably asking really goofy questions.

he must manage to sort through it, or i think he'd never get a music gig.

In my limited experience with celebs and politicians they are given the questions in advance. Then they can formulate an answer.

The problem I see is how would you know who was answering the question.

O.K. Rick, we know who you really are!

Or his agent's pool of assistants does it for him. Easy sorting system.

    Fan mail = trash
Paying gig = forward to Les

I am so for out of the loop. I have not seen any of these guys. Must be some sort of cable survival for dummy's shows.

I have heard some about Cody Lundin. Seems like about the only one I would want to be out in the woods with.

I hope you guys(and I do trust you guys opinions) keep me informed about the antics of these other survival fakes.

i've never eaten random mushrooms, but i've been known to ask goofy questions after eating several specific ones, and then i can conjure water with my mind. it's a good system.

Rebel - You're going to have to answer that question because even I don't know who I am.

Canid - You should know better than to eat.....oh, look! Pretty colors.......

lol. that's cause I can get a stronger concentration of the stuff I want if I make tea instead of trying to eat the same amount. But I bet we're talking different types, too. You guys don't have the flat grey ones with the purple ring, right?

i've had the pleasure of collecting P. cyanescens, P. semilanceata, P. strictipes, P. stuntzii, P. pelliculosa, one of the couple unpublished woodloving Psilocybes from the SF bay area, currently going to the euphemism Psilocybe cyanofriscosa, and a unknown and unpublished woodloving Psilocybe from washington's olympic peninsula which smells of anise, in addition to Panaeolus subbalteatus, Pan. castanaeifolius, Gymnopilus junonius [formerly G. spectabilis], G. aeruginosus and G. luteofolius.

sorry guys; see what happens when you get a serious mycophile on a roll...

    i'm done now, i'll behave.

[edit: lest i forget, the Psilocybe azurescens and P. cyanofibrilosa at the beach in oregon in '04]
