    Default Cleaned My Gutters Yesterday.....

I cleaned my roof gutters yesterday. I looked up and saw that they were already jammed with leaves, so up the ladder I went. Since most of the leaves are still on the trees here, I'm sure I'll be up there doing it all over again at the end of the month.

This is just a reminder to make sure that your roof gutters are clean and maintained before the winter sets in. Clean gutters help prevent ice build-up and damming, protect your roof and home from damage, and help prevent ice from forming on stairs, walks, and driveways.

    Here's a good how-to video from Lowes:

I'm on my 5 or 6th go around of leaf mowing, raking sucking....still need to do the gutters....most of mine had dropped, but a couple of maples are about ready to drop.

Gonna have to wait now, heading out to "The Place" in the morning, getting ready for deer hunting and the cabin ready for winter shut down.

And I wish I had known about this damming thing when I was in school. If I had a nickel for every teacher that dammed me I'd be rich. And all I had to do was clean out their gutters. Who knew?

I removed mine. They were here before I bought the house, and they failed miserably. The net result was icicles about 4' long hanging all around the house.

They probably weren't installed properly, but I haven't had an icicle since I removed them about 8 years ago.

The down side of having a "Place", or "Homestead", or "Cabin" or "BOL"....is that you have double the work of keeping everything up.

That is not a complaint, just an observation......Gotta be doing something, but "The Place" is a whole lot more fun.......LOL

Of course, if you moved to Alabama, you'd never see ice again on your gutters (or rarely, anyway).
True enough, my final home is still out there, but this is most certainly my home range and I love it. I love every rock I fall off and tree I trip over. Even when I am close to dying from exhaustion, a beautiful sunset doesn't lose it's power to refresh and inspire me and that, in itself, is enough to save me sometimes.

Are you north or south of I-20?

Don't know about y'all but Shreveport has ice storms and snow a couple of years ago....I was blamed for bringing it from WI.

If I head West, I'll go through Jackson, Mississippi to Shreveport.

Here in London we have major problem with gutters and roofing. You know the weather is usually bad and rainy, so the gutters get dirty and clogged easily. I prefer to clean them on my own, but sometimes I get professional services. To be honest, it's better to have expert gutter cleaning, because you can rest assured that for at least 2-3 months you wouldn't have to worry about rains or debris.
