There are two ways you can approach this at the same time.
1. Talk to your doctor and let them know you are concerned that if some weather related event happens at the end of the Rx period it could be a week of so before scripts could be caught up and you'd like to avoid that. They should be okay with that unless it's narcotics and you're asking for a refill every 3rd day.
2. When it's close to refill time call in the script a day or two early. Take the extra 1 or 2 pills and put them back. Next month same thing and rotate your meds from last month. It only takes a few months to start having some backup meds available. This will be governed to some extend by your pharmacy insurance and how many days ahead they will allow you to refill. Find out and take advantage of it. If it's out of pocket then you should be able to refill 3 or 4 days ahead will no problems.
