Default BSA - Outdoor Skills Manual

Need to build a catapult? A rope bridge? How about a camp chair? An automatic fire? How about making a backpack out of a pair of pants? It's all here and it's free.

We never made one of those, but did the signal tower....although to this day I could never figure out why you would need a signal tower.....two maybe but one?....who are ya signaling?

Actually all the parts were cut years before, so every year (couple of years anyway)we would put it all together,.. go practice our flag signals....get the badges and then take it all apart again.....

    Good stuff in there.

One of the local boyscout troops held a trebuchet contest last year. That was fun. They hurled pumpkins.
If we are to have another contest in…our national existence I predict that the dividing line will not be Mason and Dixon's, but between patriotism & intelligence on the one side, and superstition, ambition & ignorance on the other…

Thanks! There's some good stuff in there. Brings back BSA memories from the 20th century when I was a kid.

    Default Boy Scout Manuals....Old

Doing some errands today, passed a yard sale......they had a pile of old BSA manuals.

From left 1943 copyright, name in it "tenderfoot" 1947

Second one 1959....Looks just like mine that went ?????....LOL
Both marked $10 bucks, but was 1/2 price day...and got them both for $8 bucks.

The 1943 edition was real heavy on patriot saying, flags, poems, songs.....probably all politically incorrect these days.

Looking thru these manuals, in the back are a lot od ads for all sorts or products for boys......including Savage, Marlin, and Winchester firearms.....Time have changed, I guess.

FYI found a e-book of the original 1911 manual......Check out the names on the board.....
Example the leader for Practical Citizenship....Col. Theodore Roosevelt......
