    Default Survival Booze...??? "everclear"

I am thinking the burnt rice will taste gooder after some booze. We are talking SHTF survival booze. It seems that everclear would burn like gasoline in a gas burner, maybe used in a alcohol stove, used for disinfectant, and if you had to drink the stuff.

So my question is NOT what is your first choice of topshelf booze. BUT what would be the most practical booze to store....??? and WHY...???

190 proof is the closest your going to get to pure grain commercially. Might store it for some of the reasons you mentioned, but I wouldn't store it to drink. I've got a few cases of the stuff me and TDW like layed back. If you do store the EC to drink make sure to lay in some white sugar and koolaid or SOMETHING to disguise the taste.

And wear sunglasses when you drink EC, suppose to lower the chances of going permanently blind.

Ok just my 2 cents on this all u need is 100 proof or 50% percent alcohol content to be flammable. So a cheap 100 proof is what your looking for and if memory serve me SRS is a dirt cheap whiskey that is 110 proof. Comes in 1/2 gallon plastic bottle for easy storage to.

Ok alcohol will freeze at around -100F but the other parts of the booze will freeze at a much higher temperature. However the alcohol will work like antifreeze in a cars radiator so the more alcohol content the lower the temp it can handle before freezing. As for SRS in comes in 1/2 gallon plastic bottles with a white label and gold lettering. It says SRS in big letters on label a bar i use to go around FT. Hood use 2 use it for there well whiskey and cokes. I am pretty sure SRS is the actually brand name and when i asked 2 see the bottle once i remember it being 110 proof.

It will run men and machines, make you swave & deboner? Don't freeze, almost instant courage, makes ugly women look good, removes paint and too many others to list. It is easily renewable and the quality can be determined by shaking the jar and watching the beads or air bubbles to some, noting it takes over 30sec for them to break=good. Clear makes checking for foreign protein easy. Directions can be bought HERE and they are so cheap you'll think you stole them.

If I'm looking to stockpile booze for it's multiple uses it would have to meet certain criteria. At least 100 proof and inexpensive. I don't plan on this since there are so many alternatives for disinfectants, fuel, etc. I would probably store something that is more enjoyable to drink. I know you said not your first choice top shelf brand, but the "bigger" use of a quality or top shelf booze may be in its bartering power.

I'm with Crash on this one. First, I really don't drink very often. Probably half dozen times a year. (I know, it's sad.) Beyond that the only thing I'd really use it for is to fire an alcohol stove but I already have denatured for that.

So I'd go with Wild Turkey or Old Jim or something along those lines to barter with.

barter schmarter. You may not drink now, but in an extended SHTF scenario you may want to change your state of mind a little more often.

    Hey?,

Are ya'll really sure that SRS is 110 proof? I saw a program on the History Channel talking about moonshine, and it claimed that 100
proof was the tops, legally, here in the U.S.. 100 proof is still good though.

If all else fails then why not trying to re distill it.

Doesn't dooze have to be 80 proof to get a good clean blue flame. And to find out for sure try a good hydrometer.

151 Bacardi rum is 151 proof, wild turkey is 101 proof, and ever clear is 190 proof. Proof does not equal alcohol content it equals 1/2 of the alcohol content so something that is 80 proof is only 40% alcohol by volume. 100 proof is 50% alcohol by volume and will give a flame every time when u light it.

A true expert tells by the the beads and by burning a small amount and noting the color of the flame. Then comes the fun part, you note the time(write it down) and settle back and enjoy. When you start bringing back things you didn't steal have a sober friend note the time, divide the minutes by 3 and multiply by five. If you can do this you ain't drunk enough so go back and start over. Do this immediately and leave your neighbor's wife & livestock alone, some people have no sense of humor.
