Plenty of cheap quality, unknown cast iron, uneven thickness etc...
Looking for round bottom dutch ovens, pots, cauldrons, to be used in a fire hearth.
Hand powered metal shaping tools, drills, saws, anvils, hammers etc...

so the definition of a criminal is someone who breaks the law and you want me to believe that somehow more laws make less criminals?

there was a time when the industry was changing and second hand hammers could be had for scrap price. This was back when my granddad was young.
so the definition of a criminal is someone who breaks the law and you want me to believe that somehow more laws make less criminals?

Well, let's be fair; half of them have been shot by their wives.

Like I said, they are becoming a bit harder to find. They try to hide out in the woods.

This is why I believe that academics has a place in survival. In an established survival group, a chemist would be able to make battery acid from pyrite if it were really needed. Things that operate off batteries, though, will be a liability after time. Calculators aren't going to work for ever - even the solar kinds are going to get broken - anybody know how to use a slide rule - anybody know how to build a slide rule? Would it be useful to know how to salvage electronic parts and build, say, a radio?
True enough, my final home is still out there, but this is most certainly my home range and I love it. I love every rock I fall off and tree I trip over. Even when I am close to dying from exhaustion, a beautiful sunset doesn't lose it's power to refresh and inspire me and that, in itself, is enough to save me sometimes.

Household soap, Borax, any 'old timey' cleaning items have to be ordered online, it's very difficult to get hold of.
Proper brushed cotton sheets, not flannelette.
    Fruit salad flavour Penny Chews.
Any sort of small item hardware. I have to travel 15 miles tomorrow to get a couple of washers! I'm stocking up on other stuff while there.

I also have 3 cans of Glass Wax in the house, as well as cases of incandescent bulbs that I prefer over anything else on the market.

Is there anything out there that anyone is beginning to collect because it may disappear from store shelves?
You can buy glass jars in all shapes and sizes. I get all my glass stuff from Industrial Container. http://www.industrialcontainer.com/i...pe=%27glass%27
Of course, they are local for me. After I went there a few times, I found out that my neighbor works there....small world.

Home Depot still sells incandescent bulbs. They are still being manufactured. I don't know why you would want one. CFL's are cheap and use a ton less energy. I am trying to switch all my CFLs to LED, as money permits.

I was trying to think of something that I would want to stock up on, just because they aren't selling them much anymore. I can't think of anything right now. I can find borax at all my local grocery stores. I will never buy non-led flashlights, too fragile. All the food storage items that I can buy at the grocery store come in metal "coffee" cans, or #10 cans. I can also just go to the cannery and buy them there. Maybe if I think long enough, I will come up with something.......

Yeah, but coffee cans come "free" with the coffee. I've checked out jars on-line, and they're as expensive, or nearly as expensive, as the ones you can buy with product inside.

Here's another example of "free": I love Arizona Iced Tea. The gallon size goes on sale every few weeks. The heavy plastic jug it comes in is nearly indestructible. I've filled a couple of dozen as part of my water stores. They're the first ones I'd grab off my shelves, before I go to the larger containers. I've kept them in the trunk of my car and they've never cracked, even when frozen in the winter. The commercial jugs you find in the stores are nowhere near as durable, are often more expensive, and don't come with the bonus of a gallon of tea inside.

I guess I don't order it online. Glass is real cheap if you can walk in the store and buy it.

Great minds think alike!!!! I was given a Gillette Fusion and like it, but the expensive replacement heads and the need for a dry cell make it difficult to pack away for an emergency travel kit. Old style double edge razor blades and a holder can be put in a small emergency kit; also, the blades can be re-sharpened pretty well on the inside of a coffee mug. With one edge covered by tape, the double edge blades can be used as an emergency scalpel.
