    Default A General Rant.

Ya know, once upon a time, this forum was a great place to learn, make some wonderful friends and have a laugh. Over the last six months or so, most of those friends have either stopped posting because of all the Bullbiscuit thrown around, some have even been bullied and run off the forum altogether.

When did it become OK for a chosen few to bombard us with political claptrap and bash those in authority. And the worst part? These chosen few, just light the blue touch paper and stand well back to watch the ensuing fireworks by getting the rest of us riled up. And we let it happen! Some subjects are also not suitable for a PG13 forum. There have been a few things I wouldn't let a young person read.

Before anyone has a go at me for not posting, I will happily admit I know little about a lot of the subjects that's why I came here. Also, the country I live in has little wilderness left, but I get out when I can. I have this Forum to thank for that, it has given me a renewed interest in the outdoors.

And when did it become OK for longstanding members to bully new members? I've read some pretty nasty comments of late written in reply to some new members questions. Once upon a time, questions were welcomed as were new members. I seem to recall a little saying on here... There's no such thing as a stupid question. Well obviously now there is because some folk say so and seem to think it great sport to belittle the the poor poster.
Now I'm not saying the rest of us are innocent in this, I will admit to having done it myself on occasion, and I'm not proud of myself for doing so.

I see very few new folk hanging around for more than a week or two, and then people bitch because nothing new is posted.

There are folk who, bless'em try, but their interesting and more importantly RELEVANT posts are quickly drowned in the sewage that has become the norm.

In conclusion, there are a few people here who really should read what they post from the perspective of an outsider, I'm sure a lot of prospective new members are put off by it. This forum is not a Country Club with an invitation only policy and all should be made welcome.

Well, there ya go, beat the carp out of it, agree with it, do what you will.

Right on Winnie! I have commented on this very subject a few times as well, but it's hard to teach old dogs new tricks!

Sadly, not this year. Funds had to be diverted and there is not enough in the pot to get me there. But never fear, I hope to be Stateside sometime next year, Auntie Winnie misses hugs from the Tots. And I shall miss seeing everyone again.

I don't know if little guy was giving hugs, or just hanging on so he wouldn't fall through the table! J/k. I know ny daughter will miss you. She refers to you as "the lady that kept giving me candy". Hopefully we can connect again in the future.
