I generally have my RAT 7 knife along with a couple of other blades, but my main protection in the woods armament wise is a handgun. Usually I carry either my HK USPf9 or my HK P30S. When I get around to finding a holster that will fit it I'll probably start carrying my HK USP45 Tactical. I keep a light on it so it's tricky to find a holster made for that combo.

For a bobcat I would not even worry unless you decide to mess with its young. Outside of that you most likely will never see it. With that said any firearm .380 and above will work for that sized animal. If you don't want a firearm I suggest as others bear spray and other than that you could just carry a 6-7 inch blade like a kabar, KOA Bush Camp, Becker BK 7 or BK9 or one of my favorites a Himalayan Import Sirupate.

Around here I just carry a Ruger single six, and if it wasn't for the 2 legged critters, I wouldn't even need that!

Normally just carry around a knife and a hiking stick, mainly for utility though, not a lot of stuff to worry about in Ohio except for people, and if they find me first then I shouldn't be in that neck of the woods

Yep, those girls, so incredibly ignorant of the outdoors and wild animals, turned themselves into prey. Sounded like their only knowledge of the outdoors was how to paint graffti on trees.

Hi everyone,
I am new to community and I am particularly interested in surviving in woods as I think this is not just a precaution but a very important skill. I understood so far that I should take care of a roof over my head, fire, protection from animals and insects and of course water supplies and food.
And another important thing I understood is that you just have to keep composure and control whichever you are doing as panic is your worst enemy.
