(Hey, you're the one who used him as the example, in the OP.)
Drug addiction, booze addiction and consuming massive quantities of unhealthy food. His premature death could have been totally avoidable had he only practiced moderation. You can call his lifestyle living life to the fullest, but I'll bet his family might disagree.

“Sopranos” star James Gandolfini, who struggled with booze addiction in his final weeks, scarfed down a decadent final meal that included at least eight alcoholic drinks, The Post has learned.
Gandolfini guzzled four shots of rum, two pina coladas, and two beers at dinner with his son — while he chowed down on two orders of fried king prawns and a “large portion” of foie gras, a hotel source in Rome said.

The Emmy Award winner had attended several Alcoholics Anonymous meetings on Perry Street in the West Village, but people who saw him there “didn’t think that he was serious about getting sober,” said a source familiar with the matter.
“I can confirm he has been known to blow lines and drink like an Irish sailor on weekend leave,” said another source.

Photos of Gandolfini in Rome show the actor looking haggard in the days leading up to his death — and he spent a lot of the time with a drink in his hand.
Hours before he keeled over from a massive heart attack, the actor sat down for a 7 p.m. meal with his son, Michael, 13, at the Boscolo Exedra Roma hotel’s outdoor restaurant.
Gandolfini, 51, first ordered a pina colada with two additional shots of rum on the side.
He followed that up with an identical round — a pina colada and two shots — and then downed two beers, the source said.
Nearly “everything [Gandolfini] ordered was fried. Obviously, that’s going to cause problems with your heart,” the source said.
About three hours later, Michael discovered his dad in cardiac arrest in their fourth-floor room...

I hate to disagree with ya B, but I really feel that being dead will be a major set back to me, at least.
Most things I plan to do will require being alive to take part. LOL
The grand kids might still roll me around for a day or so, but it will get old soon.

You are actually agreeing with me, red.
I too, happen to view being dead the same way. I also happen to view that being home bound or on life support even worse, especially for these bunch of outdoorsy, independent folks whose life as they know it wouldn't be much fun living. Obviously they don't see that as a distinct possibility; in their mind, they live life to the fullest (read: drink, and indulge in crap to excess) or they drop dead. And I guess when you believe that as the only 2 options, it's much easier to stay in denial.

"B", I'm sure you know that I'm just yanking your chain. Yes, I have different views than you, but nowhere near the extremes that I pretend, while I'm messing with you.

On the other hand......Rick, you do realize, that "B" thinks that we should not eat bacon. EVER!

Thanksgiving and burfday's OK. You can substitute one of those days for a jamboree.

B, there are ways to die and then there are ways to die. Bacon and a beauty is my personal vision of the Grim Reaper. I keep the mustard and bread handy waiting on him to show up. "I'm comin' 'Lizabeth! It's the big one!!!!

Hey, at least now you might appreciate (I know, I expect too much) how non-preppers (in denial--your own words) feel about prepping for SHTF or TEOTWAWKI. Exactly the way you feel about the ground 0 of prepping--your health. Next time you feel judgmental about those folks, take a stock of where you are. Honestly.
Frankly, I see little difference between them and you. Y'all are just gambling on different things but I don't see a higher ground claimed by anyone.
As always, I'm in the middle--getting $hit from both sides.
