We knew this was coming. Kinda' makes some other conspiracy theories seem a bit more plausible, doesn't it?

That's odd.... I don't see National Police Force anywhere in this organizational chart.

Actually, it always has been. The U.S. Border Patrol, Immigration, U.S. Coast Guard, FEMA, Customs, Secret Service, Transportation Security Admin. as well as the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office all fall under the DHS umbrella. They even have their own Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.

I guess my question is, who are the people riding around our streets in Homeland Security Police vehicles? Border Patrol? Nope. Coast Guard? Wrong uniform. FEMA? Not their job. Secret Service? Again, wrong uniform. TSA? Nah, they're too busy groping people at airports. Domestic Nuclear Detection? I didn't see anyone holding anything that could have been a nuke. And last but not least, there wasn't any training going on. So just who are these people? I posted a link to the org chart and NOTHING on it shows a new National Police Force.
WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE????????

It's the Federal Protective Service. Check out the shoulder badges. They were moved from Immigration to DHS in 2009. According to WIKI, and we know they are never wrong, security at federal buildings was contracted prior to the move. Apparently the group has actually been around since 1790. Who knew?

I remember a few of them guarding federal buildings in Boston many years back. They were glorified security guards.
I wonder if they now have some of the 3,000 armored fighting vehicles we've read about.

Don't know about that but the wiki article said the GAO was critical of low paid contract security in federal buildings. That's why they were removed and "professional" police moved in their place. I'm sure they have some armored vehicles and SWAT teams just like every other agency.

I guess it all depends on whether or not we trust our leaders.
I'm gonna' watch that Jon Stewart clip again. He is kinda' funny.

I think many Americans are growing suspicious of the DHS, and rightfully so. With the Gestapo tactics they've already utilized at our nation's airports, do we really want them patroling Main Street, USA? What about the recent purchases of 2700 MRAPs, thousands of fully automatic weapons, and some 2 billion (and counting) rounds of ammunition? This has all the appearances of being a domestic army whose only mission is the suppression and intimidation of American citizens who dare to hold their government accountable.
Well, they aren't patrolling main street. Just the federal buildings. I didn't see anyone being suppressed or intimidated in those pictures either. Looked to me like they were peacefully demonstrating and DHS was standing its ground just as any police force would. Don't get me wrong, I'm not particularly happy with DHS. I protested the creation of TSA and that whole apparatus but like many of you I know a few folks that work under the DHS umbrella and they are no different than you or me. I've even done business with ICE and Boarder Patrol both under the DHS umbrella. They were easy enough to do business with.

I didn't see any photographic evidence either. The evidence was in the text of the article.
"What surprised many was a Homeland Security vehicle came past the protest twice." This sounds like they were patroling the street to me
"In Los Angeles, one eyewitness (as reported by Gateway Pundit) described Department of Homeland Security efforts to intimidate Tea Party protesters, which apparently included observation by overhead helicopters: Many of our 300 tea party folks were approached immediately by Homeland Security and told they could not be on federal property. My lawyer told me as long as I didn’t block passage we were OK. Many Homeland Security trucks and a helicopter above us scared many patriots so most of group went to public sidewalk to rally." Seriously, you don't find these tactics suppressive or intimidating?

IMHO this is all on constitutionally thin ice. But why should our leaders let the constitution get in the way of a good agenda?

I'd say the photos do seem to corroborate the story without too much of a stretch. I'd also say your father gave you some good advice, but no system is perfect. With the preponderence of circumstantial evidence only being complicated by the level of secrecy surrounding the DHS, I think it would be foolish to totally ignore accounts such as this one. A paramilitary DHS should be a wake-up call to all Americans. What's that Ben Franklin quote? "Those Who Sacrifice Liberty For Security Deserve Neither"
As for the chopper(s), who knows? But I suspect it/they had similar distinctive markings to the SUV's in the photos. News and Medical Tranports are usually clearly marked as well so I am willing to accept it was DHS until proven otherwise.

2D, I can't divulge my contract with them. It would be in violation of the Secrecy of Reporting on Americans Logged Into Forums Act.
