Beavers can get you killed, especially if they are married beavers.

I pulled a beaver in a conibear from the crick the other day. It was a male and apparently had a territorial dispute earlier in the year. Ther was a big chunk bitten from the tail. Male beavers tend to grab tails when fighting. I noticed upstream the beaver sign is getting pretty thick, overpopulated. Next season I'm going to mosey up there and thin them out a bit.

I could use a little beaver hunting my self....they are really starting to chew down some big trees again, down by the river.

I even relate the story of the "Wisconsin's Nuisance animal hot-line", call?

Found the number in the Government phone Directory.....
Called the number, lady says, "Can I help you?"
I Said ," I have trouble with beaver"....long silence..."You know the ones that swim in lakes and rivers?

She said, "Oh.......Just a second, I want to put this call on speaker?......"

Get lots of dams around here in odd places and they cause some trouble when small streams end up flooding over into roads etc. Truth be told living in NYC made me unawares of just how much wildlife is out there. Now I'm up in the morning seeing ground hogs, rabbits, and other critters right in my back yard... its weird.

Heres the Cliff Notes version for the ADD impaired (like me).

I cant figure, unless its due to the "animal reality" TV shows, why someone would think you can just make friends right away with wild animals.... They are not house pets.

On the positive side, Ive heard that beaver is good eating.

I heard the Pioneers considered beaver tail a delicacy! And I absolutely agree with them

joking aside, actually beaver tail is a acquired taste. It is best blistered over a fire until the hide comes off then cut in chunks and then boiled. It is rich, lots of fat.
