Thread: Shelter with out lashings

    Question Shelter with out lashings

Now when i was on my solo i did this to the annoyance of my Sgts and i had done it before. With a lack of rope or other material to lash with (at the time i did not know how to braid) i made a Lean to. i did this by finding a suitable cross bar and a good tree to use as my up right post, i took my cross post and wedged it in between the ground and the tree, i then stomped on it until it would go no lower. which snugged it firm, firm enough to take the weight a 220 pound Sgt (to his annoyance as i said) now im not saying other should do this and im curios to here others opinions on it, as i think it a handy thing to know if you needed to conserve rope.

Look around here. Use the search function. We've discussed more examples of shelters than you can imagine.

I realize that there are probably tons of shelter discussions on here but, the reason i brought up this one is everyone on course said it wasn't doable i was wondering peoples opinions on here, as i showed the Sgts and Officers up

Cool Well, since you mentioned it...

This desert shelter requires no lashings and is recommended by Bear Grylls:

Bolt, there are several with no lashings that have been discussed here. Nice work, though. It's always nice to prove a SARGE wrong.

I have found as a general rule, if it keeps you out of the elements, deflects rain off your head, and didnt blow away in the middle of the night then its a doable shelter.

Bolt just so ya know, jokes and a good ribbing go hand and hand with our discussions of topics. no one means anything by it, except for the search feature were serious about that one.

    Cool Well...

    Bolt, two things:

1.) Pics, or it didn't happen.

2.) There are two sides to every story. I don't listen to only one side. Your "higher ups" might have a different version......

    p.s.: don't listen to Ken, he's a LAWYER!...

My daughter stopped by this afternoon and asked who the weirdo with the stoned werewolf avatar is. I asked which one, and she pointed at this:
