The snow has stopped but it's still drifting around like crazy. Straight 30mph wind. If I start up the snow blower, likely to land in the next three neighbors' yards and they'll get all pissy.
On the flat we probably have a little less than 2 feet.

    But.

I remember as a kid having storms like this, without the hype, and it's just snow.
I bet FirstTimeStar is giggling up her sleeve at 20" of snow.
Gonna drop below zero tonight so if you're in the heavy wet snow band, better get out there and clean it up.

Have you noticed that with the exception of Worcester, all the Boston weather forecasters have simply ignored the rest of the state outside of 128?
    Typical.
Nah, that's a lot of snow, for a bunch of people who aren't used to it. I worry about all those without power who have no idea what to do now. It sucks being cold and at the mercy of strangers.
Why do I live in Alaska? Because I can.

My bro abandoned his last night and walked a mile to meet up with my parents to get home. We just got home from digging it out and helped another person on the way. It is a mess. The local gov. though is doing a pretty bang up job. They dragged all the cars that were stuck in intersections out of the intersections and lined them up along the side of the road. Unfortunately my bro's car wasn't one of them. Still a lot of abandoned cars out there. My cousin was actually "rescued" this morning. Him and my aunt spent all night in a car. The sad thing is that they were 100yds from some major stores, not like they were in the middle of nowhere. Also, they weren't stuck, it was cause of the people that were stuck further up the road. The other problem is that very few side roads are plowed. There is at least 2ft of snow in my area. We're right around 30inches, in the worst hit area of LI. Almost none of the side roads are cleared so the only way home last night was the main roads. You couldn't even get out to help someone. In fact, a friend of ours tried. His culdasac wasn't plowed and he tried to get through with his 4x4 without luck.

My new plan; Jeep with large tires and snow chains and a winch. This way I don't care if they plow the road or not.

Also, normally snow like this takes a few days to accumulate around here so plows can clear roads no problem. We we're getting 2 inches an hour, which just completely overwhelmed the ability to plow roads. That and the fact the vast majority of people around here have no idea how to drive in the snow made for a huge mess. Like the fire department was pushing cars out and told them to keep going, dont stop, and of course people stopped just after getting free and were stuck again.

You probably already know this by now- I think they named the storm "Nemo".

    Well,back to work.
Snow bankings are so high that folks in car need to creep out into the road to see.
    Glad I have a 4 x 4 truck that's high enough to see what's going on.
Talked with a few people on another website from my area, they are still without power. Some have been told not until Thursday.
It was snowing here again this morning.Suppose to go to freezing rain, then rain but only 1/4 inch.
