Default kyr has a lot to answer for.

In one of our recent chats, I was asking about making a bivvy bag as the tent I have is OK but it's really only a weekend tent.
Anyhoo... long story short. HE sent me a link to Sportsman's Guide, lovely stuff and they now ship Worldwide.......

    Oh, that's really bad, Winnie.
I'm hooked on SG, check it every morning the way some people check the markets.
Seems like there's always something I need or want. Right now there are 3 items in my cart that I've been visiting for days, obsessing over whether I should get them or not.
Of course, it doesn't help that I (signed up) get emails every day informing me of deals, flash sales and free shipping.

Nessie you sound like the girls, they buy so much stuff just because it is on sale. I have been trying to teach them that if you buy things you dont need, it's still a bad deal even at half the price! They are doing better lately but for a while it was non stop boxes coming to the door every day. I have heard, but it was such a good deal so much I have nightmares sometimes, of course they both make good money so I can't say too much!

If I'm to believe some of the posts around here, you guys can out shop any girl who just won lottery.
Need I go into details about all the stuff you drag home from tag sales, gun shows, Cheaper Than Dirt, ebay, and Wally World? All on the pretext of "prepping".
    Don't get me started...

Can't argue with that too much, but I am down to the point that if I don't really need it, i dont buy it. But that is because I already have everything I need!

I am a firm believer if its on sale especially clearance then I get 2 or 3 , and of course it is all in the name of being a good prepper!!! Kinda like the sale cold steel had on there seconds! they bushman was 14.00 cause the handle was out of round, lets just say EVERYONE I know may get one for Christmas this year.

You can always resell clearance stuff at higher prices when people want it. People who impulse splurged on firearms-anything in the last ten years are doing little happy dances everywhere right now.

^That's also just an excuse. I have a mild case of hoarding. Thankfully my billfold doesn't support the habit, so I've only got a few score pounds of kit, instead of few hundred pounds...

I liked SG a lot for years until they sold me some fake Walls Workwear shirts. I let my membership expire. I like the stuff they have sometimes and I was happy with them until they would not refund my money for the shirts. Maybe an over-reaction but if they are knock offs then admit it, I say.

It's too bad their catalogs didn't burn better, (slide-y paper has a lot of clay in it) you would have a constant source of fuel......LOL

Like I am the only guy in town that ever bought an inflatable assualt raft from SG, just because if was a good deal!

I now fear that I will be rquired to stand before the Creator in great remorse for what I have done to Winnie's finances. Repentance is in order.

As a side note, you might be amazed that Winnie understood the American speach patterns better the further south we went during her visit here. I had to translate for her when we were in Ohio, but when we hit Corbin, KY she understood every word of the true southern drawl!

As I remember it the comment from the litttle girl at Subway was "Ya'll ain't from 'roun heya are ya?"

Seems you yankees do not speak real English while us southerners have hung onto the basic patterns a bit better.

On my recient trip south I actually sat in a waffle house in Macon, GA for over an hour just to listen to the girls talk. It had been a long time since I had heard angels speak.

South Carolina is a strech but the speach patterns of the native VA, NC and TN people are closer to the language spoken by the settlers of Jamestown in 1607 than any other dialect.

The "British accent" we recognize today is a product of the early 19th century English educational system and is not what was spoken by the first settlers over here from England.

You know, he's right, I even understood every word 2dumb uttered. The Border Control Guard at JFK was another matter.....Dazed and confused would pretty much describe me there.

SG is going to get a big hit as soon as finances allow.

To be honest, I hardly detect a accent from tenn and n.c. natives but I am darn sure they detect mine LOL, that guy is from canada eh? LOL. That is funny being I was born very near Gradyville ky in adair county but that's another story. When I think of a British accent I think of Twiggy or maybe the spice girls especially now that they grown up a bit.

You'd have to ask one of the Jamboree reprobates about my accent. I think I may have a slight Fen twang.

Briscoe Darling from Mayberry (Andy Griffith) is the gold standard of proper Southern. IMHO.
