That was a quick 3 1/2 year break!

Ha! I'm glad I'm remembered at all by anyone here.

It's been a wild ride. I was out in the back woods, where my phone got a bar of reception at best, no internet.

The short of it: Louisiana: 12 acres, cows, quail, chickens, gardening, hunting, fishing. I missed my Dad (and my wolf), I missed the culture, heritage and the gumbo. I canned tomatoes every season until my skin peeled. Put up enough green beans to feed a small island nation. Picked and shelled (thank God for automatic shellers) enough purple hull peas to keep the cows preoccupied with the hulls for a few months. Skinned and scaled enough fish to feed army. Field dressed enough deer to bring home to fill two freezers each season. Learned a little more about compound bows (THAT was fun). Caught enough toads, frogs, snakes, and various other critters to freak my kids out. Discovered that I can indeed make pistachio crusted quail in a pomegrante/red wine reduction and have the country folks love it to death. My oldest son is showing serious aptitude in marksmanship. After two weeks with a pellet rifle, my father stepped him up to a .22. He nailed the target first shot with his new gun. Makes a mama proud!

But all good things must come to an end. I had to get back to somewhere so that I can get a career going again instead of hanging out in an area where a gas station is the best a girl with a degree and experience can do. It was a very nice recharge, but I'm ready to be in a career again and I just can't do it down there. Won't live in New Orleans *cough* Katrina *cough*.

The down fall is that now that I'm back in Tennesee, I'm bored to death.

I've been browsin the forums, you guys have been busy, too! I missed this place and it's good to be back.
