This may be the kind of post that Wildwoman was referring to the other day. It doesn't really fit anywhere but it involves wild creatures. I cross a river every day to and from work and I was driving over the bridge today after lunch and saw a bald eagle coast under the bridge and down river. He's getting bigger, he's been hunting along that river for at least the last three years and I've always managed to see him around the same time of day. He was sure a welcome sight, sure sign of spring and all that, but it got me to thinking about how many times I've seen eagles in the wild in my life. I'm probably right when I say more than most people ever get to, just because of the places I've been in my life. The cool thing is, I still get this sense of awe for every one of them that I see. They're just so majestic and I guess they've come to represent that sense of freedom to most of us. A good buddy of mine, a Cree guy from up north, once said to me:
"You know what the thing is about bald eagles? They know they're cool"
So, yeah. Just wanted to share that.
