Fuel storage and spoilage

This is a little of what I have learned about fuel storage and spoilage.

- Gasoline
Goes bad in about 6 months. If you use a fuel stabilizer it will not muck up your engine, but the fuel still goes bad in 6 months. Anyone know how to extend gasoline life?

I burn my old gas in a tin can, but I have had gas so bad that it simply would not light.

- Kerosene
Goes bad in 2-3 years even in a sealed bottle. What I've heard is kerosene actually turns to water over time. I am not aware of anything you can do to stop or slow this process.

I think I saw a kerosene stabilizer in a store once, but only once. Perhaps it didn't work as advertised. Or maybe it was some other kerosene additive.

I have stored kerosene that I've had for a couple of years and still use in a kerosene heater. I've never had a problem with it.

Bulrush - I store my gasoline for 12 months. I do not put additives in it. I rotate it every May.
