Okay, so there you are now, suddenly faced with a survial situation while travelling out in the bush, or the SHTF, or you've finally become a hermit out in the boonies. You have a good mix of practical and theoretical survival skills. But how do you deal with the mental aspect? What if you're all by yourself, how do you cope with the isolation factor?
Or if you're with some other people, how do you get everybody into the mindframe that lets you get on with the job?

Keep busy don't give your mind time to wonder.

I think a lot depends on your character. If you are a positive person then it will be a lot easier to adapt. If you are negative person then it will be more difficult. Reading, whether it be a book, the weather, the plants or the animals will keep you entertained.

Personally, the isolation factor doesn't bother me. Remain calm and assess your situation, inventory what resources you have and what resources you may need. If I'm with other people, I'll try to put them to work helping out with setting up shelter, making fire etc, --busy prevents panic.

Prioritize what needs to be done and ask everyone's cooperation in getting things done. Shelter, fire, water, food, etcetera. Accept other people's input without judgement, helps prevent "power struggles" in a group.

If people flat out don't know how to chop wood or make fire or whatever, make sure that they're working safely. Injury has to be avoided at all cost.

Basic stuff, number one is don't panic. I know I won't because it's not a foreign environment to me, but others may start to and they'll need help. After those basic jobs have been attended to, people can start planning either on how to get rescued or get out if that's what they need to do and they can establish their plan calmly and rationally because the initial stuff has been addressed.

Being alone makes it easier for me. I'm the only one I have to worry about, and if I f*ck up and die, I f*ck up and die. Not being responsible for anyone else's azz makes it alot easier to do what you gotta do to get out of the predickerment.

Depending on who's with me. If it's my family, they're pretty good about getting on board and realizing the seriousness of the sitcheeachion. Other than that, it's like this: this is what needs to be done. either do it, or f*ckin die. Your choice. Me personally, I'm gonna do it cause I wanna live. *shrugs* *starts walking away to start necessary task*.

But I have no patience for people who have no discipline or self-control.
