I would suggest a survival knife like the one below. First, it says Survival Knife right on the blade so you'll not be apt to grab the wrong one. Second, it has a hollow handle so you can store important items in it like breath mints and cotton swabs (good hygiene is really important in the bush). Finally, it has those ear thingies sticking up on both sides that give it a really awesome cool factor.

For all of our new friends finding their way around their new home........as with any place you sometimes hear new words and phrases. One of those is hong. Trust me, you don't want to know. The other is F.A.R.T. and well, who knows ----- you could be saved by a F.A.R.T. one day. Here's an explanation. http://www.wilderness-survival.net/f...-a-F-A-R-T-Day!!

Crash is 100% right! Don't ask what the "hong" is! Only tried and true survialists can survive the "hong!" It is not for the weak!

Hey, Sarge47! Do you wear heavy wool trousers and wool shirts when out in the wild? Do you sleep under a canvas tarp, set up with a low pitch, in a diamond-shape configuration? I may be confusing you with a different "sarge." But, if I have the right "sarge," then I sure would like to know what a "hong" is.

There are certain sensitive types, who's name I will not mention, that have forbid me from ever using the word T-hong. She refers to it as the "T" word. Never use the T word around me she whines. Fine. So I refer to it as a hong. It's a well known fact amongst highly trained warrior killer men that a "hong" is proper attire when preparing to enter combat, performing HALO missions, underwater demolition, LLRP missions, Ninja or simply just wannabes. If you've never heard of wearing a "hong" under these conditions then you obviously were never trusted enough to be a TRUE highly trained warrior killer man. It's even possible these highly trained warrior killer men were all around you at some given time and you didn't know it, couldn't see them and they could have snuffed you out at a moments notice. Why, just seeing one is enough to put you off food for a while. As it happens....ahem....I am one of the aforementioned individuals. Mom even gave me a certificate that says I'm certifiable. Anyway, I do happen to have one picture of said attire. The boots and hat complete the combat wardrobe.

After all.....you did ask. If you can't handle the answer don't ask the question.

It didn't bother you? Wow! You must be a candidate for a highly trained killer woman. But! We have to make certain the warrior gear fits. So......we'll need to see you in a hong to determine if further training is required.

    (How'd I do, guys?)

Pfffft. I actually did that as a kid. Only I used a wire. Didn't affect me none. Well, I do get the shakes now and then and my wife uses me for a night light on occasions.
