Default Expect more new members from a site that died

Survival Topics seems to be history, leaving a bunch of good folks without a home. There is a spinoff of it formed by an old member but its not as user friendly as it should be. I actually started out here but hung out there for reasons I cant remember. Anyway I think member numbers will be growing.

Yep, we've had a few join up here. Check out the intros for some familiar names and give the refugees a welcome.

Ha! I think you may be right, Stairman! I was there since the first month it started and had fewer than 24 members. It's surprising how attached you can get to folks you've never layed eyes on. I hope they DO show up here. There really were some very good -- and knowledgeable -- folks on that "other" forum. I also hope they transplant some of the great links, photos, videos, ideas, and experiences that seem to have evaporated.

My sincere thanks to all the good folks of Wilderness Survival Forums just for being here and for welcoming us "refugees" into the warm space around your fire.

There are other forums?! No one tells me anything. When did this happen? Other forums. I'll swan.

I barely have time for lucid responses in this forum.
I had a compass, but without a map, it's just a cool toy to show you where oceans and ice are.

I started doing a better job of saving info when that site got glitchy. now if I like something I save it on my PC. If I really really like it I make a hard copy.

Always a good idea for any site. Electronic media is pretty incredible but transient at best.

This may help some of you harvest some of the things that you are missing.

The "Wayback Machine" crawled that site in July of last year. It's cached, as far as I can tell, at least one link deep.

I can only hope that all these folks already own a knife, some have made firearm choices and none are planning to hike across Russia living off the land or start a survival colony in Ubeckistan and need us to supply land knowledge and funds.

You have made the inevitable decision. You will be assimilated. I knew it would happen the day I was banned from that board for pointing out a severe lack of common sense.

I can not proceed without Jr Mints and the popcorn must have butter.

A sandwich would be nice too. It takes a lot of energy to stir these pots.
