    Default Something New for Spring

    I am in no way associated with the site, but hadn't even heard of the technology. It is here electric outboards....I could have some fun at the electric only ponds with one of these!

    I am not buying one, just saying it is out there....Think of the possibilities add solar and batteries and stay gone a long time...
    Keep in mind the problem may be extremely complicated, though the "Fix" is often simple...

    The Fish and Game boys would be scratching their heads on electric only lakes. They'll have to hire some guy to go around and repaint the signs. "12V only"

    I know some people at an electric vehicle and battery R&D company in Indy, they had a prototype electric outboard. The also have a lithium battery that can take a shot with a .50 cal round, doesn't explode, and keeps working....

    Why not just use a big trolling motor? It would be slower but for that kind of money, I can go slow!

    I would build my own electric outboard before I shelled out that kind of money. Either start from scratch, or retrofit an old outboard. Buy an old outboard, ditch the ICE, buy a good electric motor for about $300 or $400, another $150 for a controller, some good deep cycle batteries or if you really wanted to splurge some lithium batteries for a longer life span and better efficiency (but freak'n expensive!).

    Actually I am sticking to 2 cycle, but I am mounting a Minn Kota in a Motorguide mount for trolling, trying to save a buck. That is how I stumbled across the link.

    I don't know but the 84 lb thrust pushes the 17 ft'er pretty good..........
