I like the features forward and above the loading gate. That stock is just awful though. I threw up in my mouth a little....

For some reason that thing reminds me of the "Gunslinger" in the Stephen King novels.

I think lever guns have a place in alot of areas, but their tactical ability was squandered over a century ago when the semi-autos came about. Just because you have an adjustable buttstock and the ability to mount everything including a can opener doesn't make it tactical or practical either.

Just my $.02, can I get a receipt?

The good thing about that abomination is that it will introduce younger folks to lever guns which may lead them to trying traditional lever guns. Actually that thing would make a good truck gun for me. It's ugly already so I wouldn't feel bad to beat it up........if I got it cheap.

Back in the olden days a fellow named Jeff Cooper used to run a tatical rifle course at Gunsite Raven. Just to prove his tatics were valid, at the end of the course he would split the class and give half leverguns and let half use their black rifles. Guess who normally won? Knowing how to operate is more important that what you operate with.

Leverguns have no more defeciencies in a crisis than one would have working with a pump shotgun instead of a simiauto, and the mighty pump is almost the universal "go to gun" for serious social activities.

The plastic parts on a lever gun just do not look right to me, but to the generation that has grown up looking at plastic rifles and adjustable tube stocks it is probably acceptable.

You know, I do kinda agree with this statement.....have had some younger guys show up at the range, shooting in-line muzzle-loaders, complete with scopes and all sorts of add ones.

They would kinda grin as I hauled out the traditional ML....with that look on their face......Buddy get your self a real gun....only to have them hang out and start asking questions, wanting to "try out Davey Crockett's gun".

Who would have thought that a couple of years later they would show up at rendezvous with full regalia.

Things tend to run in trends, so only time will tell.

Maybe a "tact cool" lever gun will get think about the old days........

it appeals to me in a perverse sorta way..........

however.........that picatinny forend is gunna chew up your left hand.........and there is no way you'd slip that thing into a leather scabbard...... (the horse would likely throw up !!)

a better take for Mossberg woud have been to come out with a pump action rifle in this 'tacti- cool' style......... with 10 round detachable mags and less picatinny crap............now I'd buy THAT !!

I would not have even shot Osama ben laden with that thing, not even! I like a lever gun. And a nice lever with a forward mounted scope ("scout scope" per Cooper) is a neat rig. But that thing? You can't even use it for a 'mater stake. They'd refuse to come up out of the ground!

I think this is a cool lever:
