New Tool

I've got a new tool on the way (from Nepal ) It's a Khukuri from KhukuriHouse in Nepal, these guys are x-Gurhka soldiers (British Royal Military) & are the only company that is allowed to make the issue Khukuri's that they still use, Check'em out ! Mine is the Jungle model, it's hand made from old military truck leaf springs

Any of you guys try any of their khuks?

Can you post a pic of your knife? I've been wanting to get one, been to the site where you purchased yours, wondering just how nice a knife they are for the price.

My knife has not made it yet

It should be here the last week of march. I will post pics when it arrives

It takes 25~30 days to arrive from date of order, Mine was ordered March 1.

I hope your leaf spring knife works out better than my leaf spring machette from the Phillipines. When they heated the steel to straighten it or how they sharpened the edge caused it to fail. Keep us posted and don't assume that it is safe until tested.

Take a look at this site on why most Khurki's need to modified. You probably won't be happy with the handle or the sheath. Mine were the pitts. I rebuilt the knife and made a new sheath based on this site's info:

I modified mine as did Rick based on the M40 website info. I stripped the goat skin, sealed the wood, covered with old duffle bag material, used the spray on tool dip for water proofing, wrapped the sheath with cordage, used velro to attach a Maxpedition M-2 pack that holds a fire starting kit.

I'm working on a new sheath using cherry wood.

These knifes are great in the bush, I had one some time ago and all the time it work without a hich, I saved it for the heaver tasks which it made quick work out of

SMKY has leather Khukuri sheats (12") like the CS LTC Khuks use for $4.99 !

Nice job on the mods. What Khuk is that ? Where did it come from ? (HI or KH or where )

Made in India. Bought it at a local gun show for $19. Before the modifications I made, it looked identical to the one you have pictured, including the two small knives.

Crashdive, have you tested the Khuk yet, They tell me the ones made in India are made from pot metal

& that break easy . The one's from KH are made from Military truck leaf springs (high carbon rolled steel).

Does it hold an edge? Is it hard to resharpen ?

Not real sharp when I bought it. Put it on a grinder then used a carbide sharpener. You can shave with it. After cutting and splitting wood with it I just run the carbide sharpener on it and the edge comes back pretty easy.
