Well, we woke up to the first snowstorm of the season. Dropped about 1" on the ground. It won't stick, of course, but it does herald what is to come.
Yeah, summer is finally ending!!!

SNOW?!?!! Oh yeah.
Recession; A period when you go without something your Grandparents never heard of.
Now that is just wrong. Totally, completely, wrong.

Heard they got some on the west slope above 9,000'. A small amount forecasted for the prairie on Saturday night by the local weather-guessers (not that that means anything!!!)

A bit too early for my liking, but boy, do I LOVE your part of the country.
Well, it appears I was a bit mistaken. Not only did the snow stick all day yesterday, but I ended up with another almost 1/2" overnight. Even had to scrape my truck's windshield this morning when taking my wife to work. Weather calls for more snow and temperatures no higher than 39* so, we'll probably keep the snow until at least sometime tomorrow.
I think I'll have a snowball fight with my kids later today...
That is even wronger than before. It should not be snowing this early. Baa! Humbug!!

N.C had it's earliest snowfall ever recorded, this past week, or so. (I forget which night.) Half an inch in the mountains of western N.C.

No snow here yet. Somehow I think it may be a while.
Global warming will do that to ya, Crash.

And speaking of global warming....the Arctic ship lanes are no open again and setting new records for ship travel between Europe and China. No more Suez canal and no more Somali pirates (well, until the arctic freezes again).

I love the way they presented that, starting off by saying it was a new first accomplishment allowed by global warming, and then at the end of the column admitting that it was actually the first time it had been done since the fall of the Soviet Union. The Russians had been using the route to supply the artic islands for decades.

If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?
But they built some very special ice breakers to do so. Today, you don't need those behemoths to transit through the Arctic Ocean. I also read where a record was set by a container ship for the world's largest ship to navigate through the Arctic route. They saved something like 540 tons of oil by going the northern route. That's a lot of oil. Almost as much as I use to lubricate weapons.

I am really glad you guys are enjoying your icey wet misery.
Right now it is 75 and sunny in north KY. I have been working in the yard in a tee shirt all AM and intend to continue through the afternoon.
The trap range is open this evening and I might do some trap shooting in a long sleeved flannel shirt after dark.
It will get cold here, but I am not wishing for it any sooner than necessary. These fantastic made to order autumn days are fine with me. I will be glad I enjoyed them mid-Feburary when I have not seen the sun for a month.

We got an inch of wet snow last night.
This is what's expected this weekend.........crazy.

Perhaps instead of plastic pumpkins and chem lights you need to give the kids snow shovels and avalanche beepers.
