Default A WARNING FROM NASA you might want to consider........

This NASA WARNING video is so important that i think it needs a thread of its own so i am going to post it here by itself. I want you to listen very closely to what the head of NASA is telling you. He is telling you to get ready especially if you are on the West or East Coast , the Gulf of Mexico or the Great Lakes Region of our country to be prepared, to be alert and be vigilante. The beast kept secrets and lies are always told with some grain of truth at there core to make them more believable. I just want you to LISTEN and be aware of his body language and his eyes as he is talking...... What is he really saying http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyKopmPV0PQ

I get where you going. I hadn't seen that one before but there are a couple of government sites that dovetail right into what he's saying.

    http://www.ready.gov/

    http://www.fema.gov/areyouready/

You sort of have to read between the lines on these two sites, if you know what I mean.

It's amusing that, on one side, the gov is telling you to prepare by using their organizations.

The politicians, on the other hand, always say "Nothing to worry about."

    Two threads for this junk?

The NASA guy did not say you needed to be especially prepared if you were in those locations. Rather, the language was along the lines of "whether you are in region a, b, c, ... " (having already mentioned gulf hurricanes and west coast earthquakes). Most major NASA facilities in are near the coastal areas mentioned and this video was posted shortly after the Tohoku Earthquake/tsunami disaster.

In the event of a disaster, NASA gets involved in satellite and aerial reconnaissance, analyzing reconnaissance, communications, search and rescue (actual boots on the ground), water purification, medical care, predictive modeling, structural analysis, general problem solving, etc. NASA's facilities have been hammered in disasters. 60% of NASA employees are scientists and engineers plus they have medical personnel, pilots, machinists, technicians, communications people, computer people, building maintenance, etc. NASA Ames has a 50 person search and rescue team (they also have regular jobs at NASA).

I think most people here would give people the same (but much stronger) advice. I think most people here would consider it irresponsible for government agencies and their employees, who people depend on in the event of a disaster, to not be prepared. But when someone in the government actually does something about it, it gets posted all over youtube with keywords like "NASA, NAZI, COVERUP", NIBERU, ELENIN, GOVERNMENT, NEW, WORLD, ORER[sic],...". And did you notice the advertisements?

That comet will pass "near" the earth. About 88.5 times further than the moon. Which means it would need to be 7832 times as massive as the moon to cause as much tidal force as the moon. Given that that is rather unlikely for a chunk of ice or rock, elenin had to be given a "free upgrade" to brown dwarf status. That, however, would have already caused noticible changes in planetary orbits. Better invent a NASA cover up conspiracy. Never mind that there are professional and amateur astronomers all over the world that don't work for NASA.

Some conspiracy theorists don't think the government is trying to down play Elenin but rather the opposite so they can declare marshal law.

And, of course, Leonid Elenin can't be a real person. After all, we can make up a corny acronym for his last name and his first name is the name of a meteor shower. I guess Leonid Breshnev was a fictional person, too. Леонид/Леонід, translated as Leonid, is one of the most common names in Russia. Here is Leonid Elenin's IASC staff bio:
Mr. Elenin is an amateur astronomer from Lubertsy City, Russia, located near Moscow. With a passion for astronomy since childhood, he studies minor objects in the Solar System and variable stars. He has discovered more than 10 variable stars and numerous asteroids. He works at the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics (Russian Academy of Sciences).

Don't confuse numbers for the size of the comet's coma (a better vacuum than we can produce in the lab) with the size of the comet itself. Elenin estimates the nucleus is 3-4km across.

The hidden message of this video: not showing up for work in the event of a disaster because you didn't stockpile enough food to feed your family could be a bad career move.

Much of FEMA's preparedness advice actually seems geared to reduce dependence on their infrastructure.

Consider their recommendations for 72 hour kits. If you could, at general retail price, and over time prepare the necessities for a short term emergency (the most common type), you would reduce, or even eliminate your dependence on their infrastructure for very expensive contracts for supplies, transportation and distribution of aid. At the rate these measures end up costing, it is far more expensive (out of our public budget) for FEMA to provide and mobilize them than for us to have them ready at home.

As an example: why would they or the CDC tell you that you might as well prepare for zombies as well? It's more likely that it's because people like to think about zombies (making it a good in to broach the issue for the fun-loving or even the terror-junkies among us), and the recommendation is to prepare the same goods you would need in the event of a tornado, earthquake or flood than that there is a real expectation about zombies. As just icing on the cake; if zombies or comets attack, they can say 'see; we weren't blindsided'.

Whitis, I must have not looked at the link as hard as you. Hahaha

On things like comets, asteroids, solar flares, the rapture, total nuke war, death ray..; I don't specifically prepare for things I have no chance of mediating.

It does provide an outlet for pent up rage though.

If I had $200 million I would work on it.

that's just the point; if your specific preparations are general enough, they are plenty flexible.

heck; i think that in a flood i could find some mcgyverish use for the zombie preppers' riot gear and machetes. lol.

Easy to prepare for flood, power outage, being broke, bad weather, and unemployment because it's the same supply list.

Zombie stuff is more fun. Comet slamming into us is just depressing, but if you are on the other side of the planet in a higher elevation and damn lucky your supplies for mundane SHTF are the same supplies.

The government conspiracy is they are trying to make you think it's not a conspiracy while conspiring to cover up the conspiracy they don't want you to believe in. It's all very hush hush.

Why the emphasis on large bodies of water in the video? Did I miss something?
I was so depressed last night thinking about the economy, wars, jobs, my savings, Social Security, retirement funds, etc., I called the Suicide Hotline.

I got a call center in Pakistan, and when I told them I was suicidal, they got all excited, and asked if I could drive a truck.
