It takes both science and common sense to make a blade this large in relatively uncontrolled conditions. I washed the blade thoroughly to ensure contaminents weren't an issue with color, but It is certainly not a mirror finish. I adjusted temp. and soak time to the mass of the blade. The proof will be in the chopping, shaving, and sharpening and or having to resharpen...after all we are making a knife not quite the same as a wind turbine bearing race.

I am making progress on the scales..... .25" Aluminum and leather laminate. It has tested my skills but, I think it is unique!

You can get a knife tomorrow from Chinamart or even Sweden for 12$ to 100$....This isn't one of them. I am working on it now. I am getting close to the fit and finish part of this project and I can assure you, it isn't available because it won't be for sale. They don't sell these at your local hardware store. It will take time to make something of this caliber with hand tools. No offense taken. So you can get a better understanding I am a full time Manager at one of the worlds largest manufactures and a single Father. I'll do it on my time.

Crash, I PM'd Winter as soon as I realized he wasn't Mischief.... No worries for either of us.

I want to add that the Permatex Gasket Shellac Compound was an Ideal way to attach the scales....Can you say steam Gasket? It will be impermeable to moisture...fer sure.

The CNSK holes were to lighten the handle, I lucked up and my fingers seem made for them. Playing with the idea of some file work now. I just did a chopping comparison against my Wetterlings 19" hunters axe. That will be a whole new thread.
