Default 90 Bowls in 30 Days

I got an order today for 60 Ulu bowls. Yesterday I got an order for 30 decorative bowls from another vendor. I'll have to turn around the clock to get these done. They will be primarly Birch, but I am going to turn Spruce as well. I was able to rough out 5 bowls in 4 hours today, but man am I tired.

Well we are supposed to leave July 8th, but I have some medical stuff to take care of before we can leave.

Sounds like you are doing well with the bowls. Have you ever used a bowl saver? I have seen a few videos on them but never heard of anyone using them. Seems like a pretty neat gadget.

My neighbor is getting the bowl saver this week. It's on my list of tools to buy. Saves a lot of time and material from what I've seen.

I would imagine a nice matching set of burl bowls would go for a decent price.

Well I got the 60 Ulu Bowls turned. Still have to put walnut oil on them.

Got 10 of the other 30 roughed and drying. Here are a few of them. 2 Birch and one Spruce.

I still have a long way to go. I have decided to never take on an order this big again. It really takes the fun out of it.

Those are really nice. When you starting appreciating your own work it just means you are improving. These jobs gave you the practice you needed to turn out some really fine work. There are a few of those I wouldn't mind having.

The bowls you have been making have always looked great to me, but they keep getting gooder and gooder.

That is very true. Well if you want some, I'm your guy.

You are too kind Sir. I'm getting less defects since I spend more time on the finishing. Amazing what an extra 45 minutes of sanding from 80 grit to 4000 grit then using 0000 steel wool can do. What a shine.

I didn't get all of the decorative bowls finished, but I had enough on hand to fill the order. Which worked out well since I was starting to run out of room in the house for all the bowls. Got the lathe all ready to be shipped so no more bowls until we move to FL. Then I'll have to find a new source of wood.

Just head out after a tropical storm or hurricane with your chain saw. You'll have plenty of material.

Nice work. I wouldn't mind a slightly convex plate for my rucksack. When you get to FL, i'll hit you up for one that fits inside whatever pan/pot i carry at the time.

    Is that doable?
I had a compass, but without a map, it's just a cool toy to show you where oceans and ice are.

Sounds doable to me. I'll let you know when I'm set up to start turning again.
