Yeah, we have been watching as well, as the kids DD/SIL were just south of a bunch of possible tornadoes........DW was on the phone with DD and they were out of power, gas for the gen-set, batteries for the weather radio.
So much for being ready this time.........
So far no large damage at their house...........NW Louisiana, but a lot of lines down, roof damage etc near-by.
Arkansas, Mississippi getting plastered, just north and east of them.

The news caught a live tornado touching down on their sky-cam earlier near Tuscaloosa AL.
We shall be sleeping with our shoes on again tonight.
Looks like NW Georgia was hit the hardest in our state, but those poor people in Alabama! It missed us, although the wind was whipping pretty good last night. I hope everyone stays safe today!

Reports this morning are 85 deaths from this storm system. 125 tornadoes so far, and it doesn't look like it's done yet. We're supposed to get the southern end of it which should weaken some by the time it gets to us, but all of you that are north of me - please stay alert and keep your weather radios on.
When I went to bed last night the death toll was still below 25 with 50 missing. This morning, the toll is over 60 and no idea how many are missing. It took less than an hour for the storms to pass through here. Mostly lightning between 5:30 and 6:15, no bad wind and not much rain to speak of. Hopefully town isn't on fire again.. This little town can't take many more fires like we had with the last storm system or we'll be wiped off the map.
At least we'll get a short break from the extreme blistering heat we've been having. Makes my job pretty rough.
Prayers go out to all those who have been affected.
Watching the news reports now, totally devastating to see all the damage left,my prayers for all involved.
We are finally getting a break from the storms today.

Death toll 191 confirmed now via abc news..
Here in Lexington KY, every night from Last Thursday on, 2:30am wake-up to head to the basement. Every daggum storm seems to head straight across I-64 from Indiana (geez Rick, need a little blocking here). Yesterday at work spent 40 minutes in shelter during the latest round.
Important thing for everyone, if you do have a safe place, ensure your BOB is there, with some extra items..... old Cell Phone on charger (even if not activated, will do 911), gallon or 2 of water, first aid kit, flashlight, pry bar, rope, and sledge. An acquaintance from old job went to the basement during tornado with family, and house collapsed on top. Took 3 hours to get untangled enough to get out.
Prayers goin out to those caught unawares.

Several tornadoes to the north and south of J'ville. Time to put my shoes back on.
I am so embarrassed because I was totally unprepared for this one. Typically, I stock up on groceries, buy batteries and nothing happens. (We live mid-way between Tuscaloosa and Birmingham by the way). By the time I realized things were going to be very bad, it was too late to prepare. Our old house has a root cellar but you can't get to it easily and it's filthy. Still, when we realized a tornado was coming our way, we grabbed the girls, our daughter's emergency meds, blankets and a pillow and crawled through the mud to get into it. Once in there, DH and I went back to the house a couple of times to get more sheets and some food, just in case. We were down there two hours but emerged with property and life intact.
Currently, we have electricity (which puts us doing better than most) and our house has internet. (The ones around us don't). No phones. Only ONE gas station in town operable. Only two mom/pop type stores open in town but without power. Schools have trees in the parking lots and no power. Lots of property damage around here. The hardware store is open and operating on cash and if they know you (small town). I decided to just stay home as we have an outdoor pantry that is fully stocked. We should be okay easily until things are back in order. But better planning is my top priority now. I'm not happy with how little I was prepared.
They say that one of them was on the ground for 370 MILES !
