Galong - I'm really not disagreeing with you. The only point I was trying to make is if you receive an education from any source and don't sleep through the classes you HAVE to pick up something. that's why I said if it's even by osmosis. That something makes you smarter. That's all.

Letslearntogether - I think your first paragraph is spot on. That's one of the reasons I preach to people that you have to sit down and develop a plan for your life. Decide what you want to do and make a plan of how to get there. Soooo many folks wake up one day, find they are 40 something and wonder what happened to their life. You don't drive to some place you've never been before without looking at a map. Why would anyone just drift on the wind and expect to end up the same place there dreams pointed to? That plan is your road map for your life.

Well I quit High School half way through my senior year... long story. A year later I went back to do my Senior year over but had to quit again. So I got a GED then got an AAS in Criminal Justice, then an AAS in Business Mangement and finally an AAS in Environmental Controls. I don't use any of them now.

Also I am the only person in my family to go to College, but my dad still gives me crap for not "Graduating" High School. He was the only person in our family to get a High School Diploma blah blah blah. Sometimes no matter what you do your parents won't be satisfied.

I quit my senior year of highschool. I had worked fulltime since 10th grade and part time before then. I went straight away and got my GED. Went to college for AWS Welding certificate and quit just before finishing. I went then to college for an AS in Eng. Graphics, quit just before I finished that. Been with the same company 20 yrs. now. Most know I work as a Quality Mgr./Mfg. Eng. that has been my job the last 8 yrs. I have no regrets...I earned a Blackbelt in Six Sigma w/out the prerequisite courses. If I had to say.... it has plagued me my whole life...I just get it, and grow bored waiting on everyone else and move on. Seems to work and if it isn't broken, I'll keep moving on!

The poll says there are 5 postgraduate/professionals so far. We have heard from what sounds like a doctorate lawyer, and an MBA. I'm a medical doctor. I wonder who the other two are?

I hope you were being facetious when you said in your introduction that you had "some medical training".

BA in Secondary Education, English, unemployed...

I really enjoyed college but went as an adult. I finished a 5 year program in 4 years and graduated when I was 31. Sure wish I had made some other funding choices at that time.
Why do I live in Alaska? Because I can.

BS in Mechanical Engineering. I work as a design engineer at an R&D company and love it.
