I needed a hammer,,,not sure where mine went? Anyhow I went up to the local import store.(Cheap) Anyhow the had several, but only one with a (wood) handle. Several were fiberglass, my thoughts were, what if I had to rehandle it. So I got the wooden one. It broke within 20 or so 16 penny nails. So I got my wish on day 2. I rehandled it with well seasoned Red Oak. Odd the hammer head itself is hard as it can be, even rings when driving a nail. I like it alot now!~ Treated it with boiled Linseed oil..Here it is.

There is a little bit of pride that comes from driving nails with the rehandled handle!

By the way Gorilla Glue does well for fitting the handle!

well, as a carpenter, I have a couple of estwings. They are well worth the money... lol

Nicely done though, I've rehandled a few tools in my time. Definitely initial that thing. I've lost 5 dollar utility knives and pencils to coworkers, I would hate to lose something nice like that.

I knew that was coming when I posted! Simple project. But really I was workin' on nailing up the greenhouse and bam hammer broke.. So here it is.

I still use a inherited hammer from my GF, and yes, have redone the handle a couple of times.

When I did break it, I swear he was over my shoulder, laughing, and a mystic "I told ya so" kinda drifted by.

When he gave it to me, I was choking up on it, so he marked the spot and cut off about an inch and a half.
"Hammers are made to be swung by the end of the handle"

I don't like gluing the handles, but rather use the wedges.
