    Default Kel-tec Sub2000

Just picked-up a Kel-tec Sub2000 9mm in trade. Folds into a fairly small package and uses Glock magazines. Came with a number of them and some 9mm rounds. Pretty fun little carbine to chase tin cans around the gravel pit with. About on par with my old M1 Carbine for being quick and fun (but with cheaper ammo). Not sure if it will ever be a walk about the woods firearm, but it sure is fun to plink with. I will try and post some pictures later.

aah,, I have been considering the M1 carbine. I have fired one several times and have read about it, but would appreciate any insight you have on it.

I am considering it because after years of using them I am not a big fan of the "AR" type weapons (I know I am in a minority, but I am what I am ). I think I have my large caliber "need" covered, but was considering the M1 carbine as a "walk around", since the grizzers are few and far between around here.

Pal - many years ago I had an M1 Carbine and .30 revolver with 10" barrel. I still miss them both dearly, but at the time they had to be traded so that other, more pressing needs could be met.

That is what I have heard from many that had one. They miss having them. I am thinking that with its low weight, low recoil, it may be the way to go as I become more and more "mature" . And as it may have become apparent, I like sticking with the "old stuff" that has proven reliable over the years. And the "relative short range" is not a negative to me

The Sub-2000 is a fun-gun. The fact that it folds up to about half its length is a plus, too. What grip does it have? Mine is the Glock 19 so the 30 round Glock mags fit it. I've never had a problem with mine. I did add a cheek pad to the tube just because I didn't like laying my face against cold metal. I added the extended butt as well because I found it more comfortable. Otherwise, mine's stock. Well, it was before the canoe tipped over. Sadly lost like so many others.

This was done by eating lots of Danish. (The pastry, not the people.)

Rick, get yourself a big old magnet and go trolling for your guns, stop poluting the water ways.
As to the .30 carbine, I have 5 of them 2 are stock mil. issue, 1 is the paratrooper folding stock, 1 is an after market (ferret) chambered in 256 win mag, and the last is a reciever which I haven't decided what caliber I'm going with yet. I have an unchambered .30 cal barrel and an unchambered 9mm barrel. My options are 7.63Whisper, 7.62x25, 9mm, 9mmMag, or .357Sig. I'm leaning towards the 9mmMag as I have an AMT AutoMag III in 9mmMag.

M1 carbine is one of my favorite firearms. Sadly ammo is not as available nor as inexpensive as it once was. At one time I had a number of them. Now I only have one. I don't shoot it much, or even reload for it. The right bullets are even getting hard to get. Still a fun little gun that I would not hesitate to grab for a walkabout. My Son even carried it for his first couple of years deer hunting (and understood the limitations of the caliber for that animal).

M1 Carbine is .30 carbine and all USGI is one of the best all around walk about guns there are. Not the Universal, Iver Johnson or the other non USGI's. You can load the round hot or cold and there are parts dang near everywhere for it. If you do not mind a mismatched (heat and maker) you can put together a nice lil carbine for about $500 that gages all good for bore, throat, receiver stretch, gas tube.....The US Gov't just stopped a shipment last month of 150,000 USGI lend lease coming back from Korea. That would have brought down the price to about $350.

I have a Blue Sky Import, was a lend lease to Denmark and returned.

I'm not sure what is worse - ADD or CRS. Seems I suffer from both from time to time.

It looks like this one will go by the wayside for something similar. A good friend has a Marlin Camp 9 that I have been lusting over for awhile. I actually think that I have shot it more than him. Long story short, he really likes the Keltec. We are meeting for a swap this afternoon. Camp 9 is not as compact, but it goes good with a S&W 59, and it already has a nice little scope on it.
