    Default Metamarism

    I pulled a classic today...

Customer to me "We have three different shades of gray paint. What is going on?"

My Reply " The paint is a metamarism type paint"

I never heard another word......Lol! someone was short on cones and rods...

Sometimes I lack tact. Does anyone know what I meant?

    I'll say thanks as well.

    Well, here one for you.
As you know, old things with natural wear and tear, have what is known as "patina".

Sooooo, as it tuned out we, (loose collection of friends, acquaintances, camp hangers-on) we sitting around a fire, at Rendezvous, sampling some fine spirits (well some, not so fine, some...never mind,... lets just say alcohol was involved) discussing some newly acquired artifacts that had the necessarily amount of patina to at least look old, around camp....Very important.

As I was attempting to be profound, as one seem to do, while sampling, and wanted to use a Big word, Patina, which escaped me at that time and place...It came out as "Puce" instead. ..........As in "that knife has plenty of puce on it" and so forth.

Well, it sorta snow-balled back to several camps, and we started using the word puce, as in "boy is that whatever is really puced up"...or Look at the puce on that one.
For a lot of years, it seem that we had changed patina to puce, at least in our Rendezvous setting.

    P.S. I still don't think "Texted" is a word...........

I actually heard that puce thing at trail of of history in McHenry IL a bunch of years ago. I asked about it and they said it was an inside joke. I know they did the Kenosha rendezvous. LOL
