Pack weighs in at....

27lbs.

Taking the bare minimum, LOL!!

Changed out the hawk for my WWII machette as it fits better on the pack. Ready to hit the AT and get a move on.

If it was late spring, I would prob. take a tarp and a wool blanket but since it's March, taking a new fangled lightweight rollup to nothing 0degree sleeping bag. No tent, hammock with a poncho tarp.

Okay, at the bottom of the pack is my pair of wool leggins and my green wool blanket pull over shirt...ya just never know.

Thinking of leaving the alcohol home, don't really need to hike the mountains with a hangover.

So, if you are walking the AT in a few weeks and you smell a bengay type of Tiger Balm, you are down wind of me. I will be the guy with the duc taped left ankle, green shorts, red pack, with a machette, and a KABAR on the side, that's me. Stop me and say HI! You might have to tap me on the shoulder as I will have my new wave little music thingy and ear plugs jamming to USMC cadence and Lady GAGA tunes. Eh...don't ask.

Have a great time Frank. Last week a friend and his son headed out on the AT in the Smoky Mts. White out condititons on day 2. I know I don't need to tell ya, but be careful anyway.

What's your schedule looking like if you do not mind letting us know? I am going to be going to Mt. Cammerer in a week or two and if we sync right we might be able to hookup for a mile or three.

Surprisingly I am not really taking much. I was going to go primitive but decided not to. So this trip has a total cost of about $150.00

100.00 for the hiking boots as the jungle boots just did not cut it and three pair of wool hiking socks.
10.00 for the hammock.
25.00 for the dehydrated meals.
15.00 for the powerbars.

Equipment list:
Canteen cup and tin cup.
hammock.
sleeping bag.
Mil. poncho.
2 pr. socks
1 pr. shorts
1 wool/mix longsleeve t
wool leggins
wool blanket short sleeve shirt
T shirt
flint/steel and matches.
orange whistle
2 trashbags
string / paracord (not much, just enough)

Do you have a cover for your nogin? A watch cap at least for sleeping, I see you and I sport similar hair cuts. The cap might make sleeping more comfortable.

I have a bandana, a boonie cover, and a watch cap for the noggin.

It's an easy 3 days.

I will be carrying close to 2 liters in the bota, and I usually boil water to drink if needed. One of the gents has one of them thar new fangled filter thingys. Think I will just boil.
