It goes back to that old saying "no good deed goes unpunished" and "the road to hell is paved with good intentions".

Even with that said I still strive to do the right thing. Sometimes to my disappointment and I should really know better by now but I always think this time will be different.

I remember years ago my mom was driving down the road and stopped to help somebody that had rolled their vehicle. The guy was alright, bear in mind this is a rural area and we know everybody and we knew him. My mom gave the guy a ride home, maybe four or five miles. Well low and behold a few weeks later he tried suing my mom claiming she had run him off the road and that's why he rolled his vehicle. it was basically thrown out of court, maybe more to do with this being a no fault insurance state. If this had happened in a different state with different laws who knows how it could have turned out. My mom was a stubborn old gal and I don't think she ever stopped again to help somebody unless it was somebody she called friend. a shame really. There we have in a nutshell why good people can harden their heart.

Hope you're feeling better. I hear tomato wine is a magic elixir, maybe a snort or two or three.

    Sorry to hear that, T.

I think you know that most of the people here would have helped you up, made sure you were OK....and then laughed. LOL

LOL! Yeah...the laugh part came from Camp when he called to check if I was okay and "pick on me a bit." LOL!! I'm doing okay. Sore, but that's to be expected. Nothing worse than your husband running up to give you a thwap on the bottom...and scream at him because it hurts. LOL! Poor guy looked like a sad puppy!! A couple beers and nice soak tub made it better...but I'm sure I'll be feelin' it in the morning! Ouch!
I think the worse part NOW is I cut my right hand where my knuckles are. Hurts to type and stuff.

We were working a few years back and an elderly lady stepped up onto and elevated medium. When she went to step down to finish crossing the road she misjudged and did a face plant. She was dazed and laid there face down in the street and we watched cars actually driving around her. We got to her as quickly as possible and her whole eye area was a swollen pocket of blood that made Rocky look like he hadn't been touched.

We got her an ambulance and over to a bench. But, watching those Shift heads drive around an old woman face down in the road and helpless really sucks on your soul!

For the record....I have not liked most folk for about 15 years (hence me being a Curmudgeon).....there are a few exceptions in close friends and some customers, but most folk dissappoint me usually. That is when I sic my attack Gerbils on them....cross breeded between Midget Beavers, Chipmunks and Gerbils.... HUGE teeth, wide arse with a nice flat side to sit on between attacks and a dual racing stripe down their backs. They do however tend to eat the legs off of the chairs here though and dam up the bath tub.......

I've always been very patient but the older I get the more cantankerous I become. Maybe that's a prerequisite to being a Curmudgeon. I was told that the older I became the more patient I would become. Balderdash my patience was gouged out of me over the years. I'm on my way to being a cantankerous curmudgeon.

that's terrible. the worst part is that if you see them with a cell phone you can bet $20 they're going to put it up on youtube.

I'm annoyed at people too. less severely so, but some a##-hat stole two potted cacti from my front porch. they wheren't even worth a couple bucks, and i got the cuttings for free, but it angers me because it was a year's investment in rooting them and they where just sprouting new pads again.

I don't know what I would do if someone tried that on me. It's really sad that you have to worry about someone trying to screw you that you were helping.

All this really illustrates why we're at that point now that when people do the right thing they are called heroes and no one says... wait, isn't that what a human being is supposed to do?

Yes, what was once common is now uncommon and now seen as some kind of special behaviour, sad really.

I usually laugh when people fall, but do stop to make sure they're ok. Unless of course it's looks real serious then I just stop to see if they're ok.

Karma, yeah. Karma always gets even. Unfortunately, you don't always get to see it. Perfect Karma would be them running into a tree while they are driving by, laughing and pointing at you. Yeah, that would be about perfect. You could get a good laugh and when the EMTs arrive to take them to the hospital they could help you. Perfect!

Oh I'm not bothered seeing it, just knowing it will happen is enough for me!

Aiding and abetting Karma is especially gratifying.
